It's great that you appreciate this show and the book, I can definitely understand being a fan. As I said after the first episode, it has a certain pleasant charm and the animation and art are, if a bit bland stylistically, certainly more than servicable. But it's a very flawed work and the protagonist as portrayed is an absolutely dreadful character.
