The apple thing was somewhat confusing. So there was a devil's fruit hidden in the bag? Or did the apple become a devil's fruit?
Did the slime thing explode because it consumed a devil's fruit after already having a devil's fruit ability?

Smiley died after eating the candy and the nearest fruit turned into his/a devil fruit. I'm going to guess that's how Blackbeard got Whitebeard's fruit after he died.
What would the point of that be? The only part of Smiley that's devil fruit-related is the salamander form, which by itself is useless to Caesar.Originally Posted by unandpw

So it seems like when a DF user dies, the closest fruit turns into the newer DF of that type. Thus there are no repeats. So when Blackbeard put that cloak over Whitebeard when he died, it was to hide how he had a fruit with him to consume.
At least thats what my interpretation of it is.
His devil fruit form allows him to grow and concentrate a mass of gas as he consumes things. When he dies, the gas gets expelled like a giant fart and nukes whatever island it's on. That's my guess...
I thought it was gas that had a zoan fruit...

Yeah, that was pretty much my thought as well.
I suppose killing him could still be the trigger, regardless, but it seems to me he has to recreate the slime and integrate the salamander fruit into it every time he wants to "re-arm" his bomb.

I gotta wait two freakin weeks?! Man OP knows how to deliver after a slow chapter. Also I bet law or Monet threw that note. I mean leave it to chopper to be out in the open for someone to see him lol. Law is too smart give caesar his actual heart, I bet it was some random lackey of caeser's. Either he threw it or Monet tossed the note. Something tells me she doesn't want to work with caeser at all. She gives off a nico robin feel. She'll probably join law's group. Also, I wonder what happened to his crew once he became a shichibukai?
