    What makes you feel old?

I saw this meme about changes to celebrities that make you feel old, like Eminem's daughter Hailie now being a teen instead of a little girl.

Today I saw The Mask and it reminded me of this meme, so here goes:

    From The Mask, 1994:

    Now, 2012:

For God will not permit that we shall know what is to come... those who by some sorcery or by some dream might come to pierce the veil that lies so darkly over all that is before them may serve by just that vision to cause that God should wrench the world from its heading and set it upon another course altogether and then where stands the sorcerer? Where the dreamer and his dream?

I don't really feel old. I only realise it when I look at my age, the year it is and the number of years it's been since graduation etc etc.

For example, I always think of the year 2000 as "not too long ago" or "recently". After that initial feeling, I'd then count the number of years it's been and realise it's actually a fair way away now.

Watching stars age does the trick too. DiCaprio comes to mind, along with some other oriental stars.

    And what shinta said.

Hair, white is coming. Numbers are very low, but I know they're lurking and keep coming. Strangely enough, it's worse in the beard.
Hair again, front line is going higher and my top will probably be baren in the next 5 years.
A bit disturbing when I considered myself a teenager not so long ago...

All the things I really like to do are either illegal, immoral, or fattening. And then: Golf.

My own hair's heading that way. I worried about it a bit when I was in my teens, but I've more or less accepted that there's nothing I can do about it and to let it run its course now. Pretty sure it's genetic, looking at my dad.

I'm the same person I was back when I was a college junior, albeit with more skills and experience. College juniors today look like babies to me :-(.

Your freedom is parasitic, you suck the honourable man dry and offer nothing in return. You who have enjoyed freedom, who have done nothing to earn it, your time has come. This time you will stand alone and fight for yourselves. Now you will pay for your freedom in the currency of honest toil and human blood."

You guys talking about how old you feel makes me feel old.

Someday soon you'll post a picture of your daughter as a teenager and that will make us all feel real old .

I'm in my 30s and people have always told me I look really young for my age. When I went back to school at uni, I'd be in classes with freshman and sophomores and the younger students could tell I wasn't one of them. Not everyone can tell my age, but some could and treated me accordingly (with distrust and aloofness). That made me feel old.

Pfff... yeah right. If they ever delete Shinta's account, maybe. And even then probably not.

How old are you? I think its really unfair of you to hide or lie about your age. You, Sapphire and Animeniax etc. Anyway I don't feel old. Like you I feel that I am the same person I have always been. I just have more knowledge and experience now which has granted me a better understanding of things than I had when I was younger and a broader perspective. The only time I actually feel old is when I am forced to interact with narrow-minded people, which I am sure you can all agree is a uniquely unpleasant chore.

From my perspective, from the perspective of someone who was told when they were 15 that they probably were not going to live to see 20. From the perspective of someone who is genuinely happy just to wake up everyday. You guys talking about how old you feel just seems ridiculous to me

When I watched The Avengers, Tony Stark called Thor "Point Break" and I swear I was the only person who laughed probably because I was the only one in the audience old enough to catch the reference. Also, someone was playing Galaga in that movie and I doubt most other people even heard of that game, much less played it.

People tell me I look and feel like 30 year old mentor when I'm only 20 because of mature personality and because I give great life advice for their careers.

Well if age is just a number, then it shouldn't matter what our numerical age is. I think we all talk on the same level here. Knowing our actual ages will just jade our perceptions of each other.

At 24 you still are very young, until you hang out with teenagers. They look and mostly act the same way you do, but the divide is there. When you realize or encounter that divide, that's when you feel your age.

I haven't see the Avengers, but I imagine he's referring to Thor looking like Patrick Swayze in Point Break. I've also played Galaga on the arcade machines back in the 80s.

Today I got my hair cut for the first time in 2-3 months. Seeing all the white hair mixed with the black as it collected on the salon cape really made me feel old. I almost cried.

I'll be 29 next month. By then I'll have been all over the world, fought wars in two countries, learned things I thought I'd never learn, and seen places I thought I'd never see. I've loved, lost, laughed, and cried. My back aches from 8 years of beating it up for the Army, my knees are almost blown out from marching miles and miles with 50+ lbs of gear on my back. I've got a bad shoulder. My body feels like it's probably 50.

But on the weekends I party it up and act like whatever the fuck age I feel like.

So while my body may feel old, I sure as hell don't. As long as I keep that mentality, I doubt much will ever make me feel old........except my soldiers....can you believe some of these little bastards are 18? That's like a whole god damned decade younger than me. Fuck I feel old now

    It's all subjective folks

Well sooner or later you won't be able to get by on 4-6 hours of sleep, your shitty treatment of your body will catch up to you, and you'll enjoy more time just sitting alone than hanging out and drinking with friends. I had the mentality you do, I looked, felt, and acted young. Not sure when exactly it hit me that I'm not that young anymore. You're only 29, so you have a while before you know what I mean.

That is not true. I don't believe knowing everyone's age would jade our perceptions of each other. I can't speak for everyone obviously but I evaluate posts based solely on content. I would not have a higher regard for something you posted than something Xan or Y or Sapphire posted simply because you are older them or whatever other trivial reasons people use to discriminate against each other.

As far as hanging out with teenagers. I didn't hang out with teenagers when I was one and I think I would prefer to pull out all my teeth with a pair of rusty pliers soaked in iodine. Too much?

Yes he is. Wacky fact but my parents loved those old arcade games so I grew up playing most of them. My father still plays Donkey and Pac-man. I hate those arcade machines though.

Lol, sounds like a commercial for Just For Men. Its alright my family turns gray in their 30's too. Though hopefully I won't, not that I would care. Probably would just shave my head anyway. Always wondered if I could pull off that look, too tedious though

I like how you said basically the same thing Abdula said, but in a much more positive and less pretentious and patronizing way. It's nice to read a message like this without visualizing a hand slowly yet firmly stroking their penis as they type.

And despite my realization that I'm a decade older than my students, I'm still quite childish and playful. They tell me on a regular basis that I act like a little kid. So you're as young as you feel, but reading the numbers is slightly disconcerting.

<@Terra> he told me this, "man actually meeting terra is so fucking big", and he started crying. Then he bought me hot dogs
