Pard was awesome in that fight. It was a bit odd though how her avatar was full-on red, yet she seemed to be a close-range specialist with no long-range capabilities. Anyone have an explanation, or is this just another one of those plotholes?

And Chiyu...wow. Just wow. Nothing else to add which hasn't already been said.

I assumed it was for the same reason that Taku had a close-range color but a long-range weapon.

    UTW - Episode 23

    ----------------------------

Damn that episode went by quickly. I had hoped Chiyu would be the one to heal Taku and let him beat the shit out of Noumi.

I actually quite like the vice-president fellow. I dare say his powers would be severely (if not completely) limited if someone lit up the place and banished every shadow.

Noumi's experience got a bit of pity out of me, but his face and torturous ways certainly don't help his cause.

I don't know if I'm qualified to say, but I would have done as Noumi said and attacked instead of dropping my sword. In the best case scenario Chiyu would have come out without being run through, and in the worst case scenario we all lose Brain Burst and keep our friendship.

The idea seems to be that anybody can show up and interfere with a duel..

I agree about the vice-president fellow; he's quite intriguing. Guess this ep was the requisite humanization of the villain before defeating him because he doesn't repent. Can't say I'm surprised that Lotus showed up to clean up the mess. They really need to define the rules of the accelerated world more clearly; I wonder if they do so in the novel.

Indeed. The more I think about him (in a non-creepy way), the more I like him.

I would actually compare him to our Red Screw character in Okinawa in terms of prowess. Both of them seem to require favourable environmental conditions to be powerful, and when they are powerful they can hold their own against normally more powerful foes.

They also both have some sort of laid-back attitude, though in different flavours. They rather contrast with everyone else in this world who seem to be constantly obsessed over something.

Lotus showing up gives me mixed feelings. On one hand it manages to tie her into the story and also means we don't have to default to Crow obtaining some ridiculous powerup... but on the other hand it's a bit Deus Ex and basically says Haru & Co aren't able to hold their own while their Master is out (for better or worse).

And at this stage there still isn't any hints on how Haru would get his wings back.

As much as I would like to take this seriously and all, the characters are just way too stupid. Everything that happens makes me want to shout at them. There is too much artificial tension and drama going on. The danger and conflict are pretty much avoidable, but simply slapped on there just because.

I hate Noumi to the core, but he was right when he said Taku should have sliced that whore up with him in one go.

    ^ Yep.

When she's not fucking them over by healing the guy they are about to beat. Chiyu is making herself even more useless by becoming the typical female hostage. I'm pretty sure Chiyu is a big reason why Haru was such a mess when this series started.

And done with ep 23. I like this anime more than Sword Art Online.

Anyway. Isn´t "Senpai" a little to trusting at this point in the fight? As I understood, Arita and Taku are sharing their hp. And we saw that hp go down to "almost dead". Yeah, yeah, she trusts in him, but the risk is just too much here.

Also, I´m a bit disappointed that she had to show up at all. Chiyu could have healed Taku (or better: Taku could have fought on after Noumi´s pity-speech, even with that hole in his body), and Arita could have dealt with the new guy. Don´t really see the need for Black Lotus´ presence, other than going for the easy way out and some contrived drama.

Speaking in general, I hope that this anime goes into more detail regarding the real life-consequences of Acceleration. It was mentioned several times how you could abuse it for better grades, sports and such. But not only was it not really demonstrated on wider scale how this happens, there´s another elephant in the room: By staying inside the Accel World, one could experience thousands of years, achieving an unprecedented human existence, while the real body stays young. I´m sorry, but in the face of this possibility, all the gamey parts of the Burst-game lose their relevance.
On a similar note, I hope to find out more about the developers of the game. BEcause, you know, if they´d make the possibilites of their game public knowledge, accessible to everyone, it could change mankind forever. Kinda silly to keep it as a game for Japanese kids, lol.

They've mentioned it. Both Kuroyuki and Scarlet Rain have lived well beyond their years in the Unlimited Field. Kuroyuki has been clear that it is not a subject she feels comfortable discussing with Haruyuki yet, no matter how attached to him she might be. Scarlet Rain is even more reserved about it, but she can't quite keep it contained the way Kuroyuki can, and it slips out in her behavior and foul mouth. Sky Raker had that same feeling.

I'm not entirely sure Chiyu doesn't have a bit of it. She mentioned that she got power leveled as a result of helping Noumi. We know she's at the very least level 4 now, and that took Haru months of real time. It hasn't even been a week for her, but she's been tagging along to his battles for some time while accelerated. She's changed a lot between the last two episodes. She's not as confident as she once was (experiencing many eye openers perhaps), not as perky, and much more willing to beg for forgiveness because she clearly did not enjoy what she went through. She was beaten down in this episode, the likes we had never seen before.

You're right though, we could use a little more discussion on it.

But I wouldn't expect too much at this point. We'll have to hope for a second season.

    Episode 24:

The sight of Noumi being split in half sexually aroused me, that motherfucker had it coming. I was actually scared for a moment that they'd forgive him, glad it wasn't the case. He then became retarded moe so... talk about karma.

The action was great but the drama is fucking annoying. It all feels so forced, i wish they would just focus on the battles and goals and not on the emotional bulshit a fucking videogame puts them through.

Eagerly hoping for a second season.

    Average final episode.

Not much to say about this specific episode, but: The whole acceleration-thing is wasted on a video game. IF there was a second season, I´d hope it would focus on the origins of the "game" and why and how it was created. And I´d hope this explanation would then transcend well beyond "Well, I wanted to make the greatest virtual world, so, duh ...".

One final note: The premise of this show was Arita being this unpopular fat guy. But being fat is the least of his problems. What´s way worse is that he´s a dwarf, lol.

Why the hell didn't Chiyu just level up with Haruyuki and Taku to increase the power of her special move?

I am assuming that both Haruyuki and Noumi need to be in range of the time skill for it to work, but that would mean that Haru's HP bar and body should be healed as well, but they weren't.

The other possibility is that only Noumi needs to be hit by the move, which makes Chiyu's secrecy even more stupid. She could have just power leveled with Haru then shot Noumi then everything would be over, without there being any need for all that risk.

Chiyu said that all she did was for her plan, but she also mentioned that she only realized the real effect of her special move after she healed Noumi once. She really did side with Noumi (even if due to blackmail) once, but now she is acting innocent and claiming otherwise. Disgusting.

Noumi becoming retarded uke is stupid. I wanted him to suffer for his actions, not become happy.

Noumi had to trust her as a pet. Also, Chiyu (whore that she is) wasn't entirely sure how far back the time reversal effect goes. It also appeared to be cumulative, as pulling the wings off was months ago of accelerated time. She was essentially testing out its limits on Noumi, experimenting on him the whole time. It may have succeeded earlier, but it wasn't as if she could just cut off their connection and carry on with her friends after apologizing for "betraying" them the first time. Noumi would still be lurking around, harassing the three of them while abusing acceleration to pull it off or get away with it. After she leveled it up a bit, I wouldn't be surprised if she could figure out the output/time reversed ratio.

She had to wait for the moment it would crush Noumi, where he'd be removed as a problem forever.

Don't forget that Noumi forced her to heal him the first time in exchange for leniency for Haruyuki in the locker room, a promise he went back on shortly after. She's still a greedy hobag for wanting both her friends to worship her, but you shouldn't hate her for what she did the first time. Hate her at that point because she was doing the whole, "I'm sacrificing myself so you [Haruyuki] don't have to suffer as much," thing.

If she didn't know how far back in time she can revert, that means she still didn't know when she used it at the very end. That means it was a stupid gamble hoping that it would actually work, rather than any real reliable plan. If it didn't work at that time, she has effectively erased Haru's brain burst by healing Noumi.

If she actually knew that it would work, she should have reverted Noumi as soon as they saw each other in the field. She had a crap ton of chances to do so. The special bar can be filled in so many ways other than getting used as a hostage and tortured like she did. Why the hell would she wait so long, when Taku and Haru almost died so many times already?

    UTW - Episode 24

    --------------------------------------------

What I do like about the time-machine is that it makes sense, given Chiyu's greatest wish/regret is that the trio aren't as friendly as they were when they were kids. It also explains why "healing" the target used up their SP guage on previous observations: if you're reversing time to before they took the damage, then you'll also reset all the SP points they accumulated in the meanwhile too.

I don't think Haru needs to be hit with the spell. It would be good if he did, since that would explain why Chiyu waited for that moment in a convincing manner. Given that Noumi was the only one to glow though, visual cues suggest it's unlikely. And if Haru was targed with the same spell, then it should mean that he would have lost the Booster too since his time got reversed by the same amount. (The counter argument here is that Taker's accumulated much more reversal than Crow up until now, so he was closer to the state at which he took the wings than Haru was. However, given that Haru doesn't seem to be targeted, this line of thought is only hypothetical).

Vice is awesome. So pragmatic yet well mannered.

I hoped they would have shown us a bit more between Raker and Lotus. Did they eventually break apart because Lotus regrets cutting off Raker's legs, or was it because Lotus could never see Raker again after starting a fight against the other kings? They might have touched on this, but I can't remember.

Chubby Haru with little wings on him falling with ecstasy was.. weird to watch.

On the other hand, what I enjoyed most was seeing Noumi squirming on the ground, begging for his (Brain Burst) life. It was disgusting to watch, but satisfying at the same time because you realise that it's Noumi who is in such a sorry state.

How did Kuroyuki (who is apparently called "Sacchan") solve Arita's case in the bathroom by "rewriting the lost property list"?

I would like a second season, but please base it more on the mechanics/goal of Brain Burst and its possibilities, along with Legion politics.. instead of emo boys ruining people IRL.

Seems like no one has subbed the EX episode yet. I wonder if they delayed it on purpose.

Her name is probably Sachi, named after the girl her father couldn't save.
