Were you not paying attention to Wan's story or what?

I did. My understanding was that by opening the portals during Convergence, the Spirit World and the Real World merged into one(like they were during Wan's time).

I thought Korra was supposed to close the portals, thus separating the worlds again, but instead she decided not to. Which is why there are spirits just floating around the place in seasons 3 and 4.

Again... what? There were always 2 separate worlds linked by portals, even then. Where do you think harmonic convergence took place?

Hmm, okay.

So there's just 3 portals now, which doesn't really change anything, except you don't have to walk as far to get to the Spirit World.

it's like having two airports in the entire world, and both of them are in the poles. and now you open a 3rd one, and it's in new york.

Well, not exactly. Because the New York airport would still only go to the poles. Which would be kinda useless in our world.

In their world where there's actually people at the poles, it's more useful.
