    Eureka Seven AO: Astral Ocean

The official website for the Eureka Seven: Astral Ocean (Eureka Seven Ao) project announced on Friday in Japan that a television anime version will air starting in April 2012. The anime studio BONES will return to animate the sequel series.

The February issue of Kadokawa Shoten's Monthly Shōnen Ace magazine is announcing on Monday that Eureka Seven Ao, a manga sequel to the Eureka Seven television anime series, will launch in the next issue on January 26. The "real mecha epic" will center around a boy named Ao who "set 'destiny' in motion again when he held the 'power.'" Artist Yūichi Katō is drawing the manga based on the original story by the anime studio BONES.

I won't object. I hope it'll also sport as cute a romance as the old show...

Damnit, I just deleted my E7 OPs and EDs the other day. Now I want to listen to them again.

Looking forward to this sequel. I'm hoping Ao doesn't turn out to be Renton 2.0.

2012 is shaping up to be the best year for anime in a looooooong, long time.

    - Berserk-movie #1
    - Neon Genesis Evangelion Rebuild movie #3
    - Eureka Seven-sequel

Now we need a continuation of the Claymore-anime, Kaiji season 3 and something like Mushishi, and it´d be a dream come true!

Eureka Seven AO - Newtype Scan

The February issue of Kadokawa Shoten's Newtype magazine is presenting the story outline, staff list, and a new piece of art for Eureka Seven Ao, the sequel to Bones' 2005-2006 Eureka Seven television anime series, on Tuesday.

The story is set on Okinawa's isolated island of Iwado, which has seen a growing movement advocating a return to an autonomous government. Ao Fukai, a 13-year-old boy with a missing father, lives on the island with an old doctor named Toshio and is about to enter middle school. Ao's mother was taken away a decade ago by unknown individuals. Naru Arata, Ao's 13-year-old childhood friend and the story's heroine, lives with her father, older sister, and grandmother. She has a "Yuta" power awakened within her due to an incident when she was young.

A mysterious entity called "Secret" suddenly appears and launches an attack on the Scub Coral lifeform on the island. In his fervent desire to protect the island, Ao launches a certain military FP called "Nirvash" aboard a Japanese military transport.

The anime sequels features the return of the original anime's director, several mechanical designers, art director, color stylist, visual effects director, and director of photography. The first anime's character designer Kenichi Yoshida and main mechanical designer Shoji Kawamori are also credited for "key character designs" and "Nirvash designs," respectively.

    Director: Tomoki Kyoda
    Key Character Design: Kenichi Yoshida
    Character Design: Hiroyuki Oda
    Nirvash Design: Shoji Kawamori
Mechanical Design: Kanetake Ebikawa, Kimitoshi Yamane, Takayuki Yanase
    Design Development: Shigeto Koyama
    Design Works: Shiho Takeuchi
    Art: Kazuo Nagai
    Color Design: Nobuko Mizuta
    SF Setting: Mitsuyasu Sakai
    VFX Director: Yasushi Muraki
    Director of Photography: Shunya Kimura
    Animation Production: BONES

The new television series will premiere in April, and the story is being adapted in manga form in Kadokaw Shoten's Monthly Shōnen Ace and Newtype Ace magazines.

Ao looks so much like Renton. This puts a smile on my face.

Main character looks likeable. However, the music sounded a bit more generic than I remember the first season´s being. And I don´t like the new design of some of these vehicles. Well, eagerly anticipating this anime nonetheless.

Characters looked good and promising. The music definitely sucked long noodles compared to the original.

He looked more like a male Eureka to me. With brown hair.

Hmm, 20 pages of discussion for the original anime... I'm guessing it would be best to split the thread for the new anime? In any case, I haven't been watching much anime, but I think I'll keep an eye for this one.

    Split that biatch.

It has to be split. It's a different show altogether.

    Hm ...

Animation quality is top notch and voice actors are fine, too. I don´t like the realistic setting ... actually, I have no idea what´s going on. Wasn´t the first season set in a fantasy world? I guess there was something at the end, but I forgot everything about it. Either way, I hope this becomes more "fantasy" soon. At least the preview of next episode looks promising.

First season had a much stronger first episode, though.
