    Episode 4 - HS

    - - - - - - - - -

Well, well, well. I don't know where to begin, even though I'm not going to say much. I actually like Hanegawa better with this hair style. She looks cuter and sexier this way, and way less formal. I also felt like her personality was also likewise different, even if it wasn't a result of a changed style. It's hard to judge at this point how this whole hero business started. Were they all like that before or did Hanekawa start it by helping Arararagi. Nevertheless, she likely did it willingly back then, so it makes sense she would now help Fire Sisters. Those sisters are now getting a lot of flesh around their bones, all the way to the Yuno like scene of returning with a knife.

Shinobu suddenly talking and interacting so humanly and much was, that's a nobrainer, the real highlight of the episode. It could have been a bit convenient she had heard from Oshino about the bee... But why not. Assuming she was telling the truth. I'd guess she was.

I'm loving this show. A fine second season to Bakemonogatari.

I don't understand why they did not release Kizumonogatari before this. It would make a lot more sense (both logically and story-wise) if they did.

Was that half an episode of gap moe mode Shinobu loli fanservice? I don't remember all of it after passing out due to blood loss while watching.

Moving on to a more serious topic, I actually don't like the new Hanekawa. It makes her come off as... arrogant. The change is also so drastic that I am having trouble linking her to the old Hanekawa.

As to why she cut her hair, I am guessing it's because she was dumped. Seems like a common reaction in Japan (or from an otaku's POV, anyway).

So, Gahara does not know that Hanekawa already confessed, and is threatened enough by her that she is willing to concede (something amazing for Gahara) just to prevent a confession.

She hasn't actually confessed yet, the cat just spilled the beans.

I never really cared much for Hanekawa, she always gave off an arrogant "know it all" feel yet lacked Senjougahara's charisma and shamelessness to pull it off.

I never liked her in Bakemonogatari. Kizumonogatari changed my mind about Hanekawa. It is funny how Nisemonogatari changed it again, this time making me view her much worse than ever before.

Araragi needs to man up and take control of his harem.

I thought the movie was released in Japan already. (edit: I guess not...)

I don't like the new Hanekawa neither. She might know things before, but was more modest and kept it to herself. Now it's a bit too much in-your-face-and-rubbing-it-in.

Despite this though, I do like how Hanekawa has a bit of an upper hand on Senjougahara in terms of the whole confessing thing. It's a nice weak-spot on the otherwise (apparently) fearless Hitagi. A very important part of this is that Hanekawa should know herself that it's just a bluff. Araragi will never change his partner. All this accomplishes is a bit of Hitagi-soft-service to show how much Araragi matters to her.

The fire sisters were hero-wanna bees (sorry, I bit my tongue) before any involvement with Hanekawa. As Araragi said though, they weren't very competent. Hanekawa's brains got them somewhere now.. but Karen just got screwed over by her incompetence when she approached the boss-fight in the end anyway.

edit: in light of recent developments, I'm going to wait for the BDs now. Both to see Kizumonogatari first, and to see a crisper picture with more colour saturation. These raws haven't been doing the show justice IMO.

    Episode 5 - HS

The con man is quite an interesting character. Of course pretty much everybody in this show has good lines and thus he's no exception as such, but still he has formidable integrity for somebody doing business as petty as selling charms to middle schoolers. Karen's meeting with him also demonstrated how Koyomi was 100% correct about this opinion on the Fire Sister's fight against injustice. In the beginning I thought he was just subjectively talking as a big brother and from the higher place of a real aberration and a minor expert, but after this episode it's quite clear he did really know his sisters. Karen might have been the one invading the con man's base, but just like Kaiki said, she was even too stupid to have achieved that by herself, and consequently Kaiki was in complete control of that confrontation. She was really only playing a hero game.

Other than the more deep aspects of the plot, the classic scene of Araragi's towel falling (why the hell was he even sticking to such a lack of an outfit with Hanekawa still in the house?) and the useless breast grabbing ticket were funny.

I'm looking forward to the beginning of the next ep to see Karen's reaction to the last scene.

All the fanservice is starting to get on my nerves, i can take it in small doses in between funny sketches and some character development to go along with it but this shit it getting ridiculous.

Weird poses done right, the anime.

But yeah, it was nice to watch Araragi embarrass Senjougahara. By (unfortunate) modern standards she's mainly a self-proclaimed tsundere, but she did show some stronger signs here. Not to mention Shinobu, of course, though if I call Senjougahara self-proclaimed, Shinobu should be called self-made. No doubt this display was also but a result of the weird relationship and coexistence those two have.

Speaking of weird relationships and coexistences, how the hell does cat boobs have Senjougahara eating off the palm of her hand like that?

He did? I thought they just made out.

I can't believe Araragi just let that middle aged bastard off without hitting him at least once. If he summoned Kiss-Shot Acerola-Orion Heart-Under-Blade it would have been easy to teach that little shit a lesson.

90% of this anger I am feeling towards that creep is because Gahara actually liked him. I can't believe I am feeling more jealous than the fictional boyfriend of a fictional character, no matter how awesome she is.

At least post a link to the episode... We shouldn't allow morals to degrade that much.

    Episode 7 - HS

Based on Senjougahara's words alone, Archie should be right, but considering her personality and past actions, I unfortunately would predict Shinta's interpretation to be correct.

I wasn't overly surprised Kaiki walked away without a scratch (aside from his phone). In the first place, Araragi doesn't seem to be much of a fighter. His words to his sisters always suggest he could kick ass, but in reality he can barely beat Mayoi. In my opinion this tells more about his mindset than any potential he should have from the vampire background, dojo background, and whatnot. He simply doesn't like to fight at all, even though he seems to like getting beaten to a pulp by girls... With a personality like that, it would be a long stretch to assume him to attack Kaiki to teach him a lesson. It's too bad this left the taste of a small contradiction compared to the Nadeko arc in Bakemono, where he anguished over letting the snake to escape and thus possibly hurt someone else. But maybe he really learned his lesson back then.

I'm surprised Araragi is not ecstatic. That is probably what threw me off the most. Maybe that will be addressed in the next episode.

Araragi is probably absurdly strong even now. Shinobu is a part of him, after all. I guess he really is just a softhearted self-sacrificing masochistic pacifist.

If you want to see how strong he is read Kizumonogatari - prequel to bakemonogatari.
