You probably will only have to wait 10 hours for 8th's version.

If it's anything like Bakemonogatari, it would be a stretch to expect commercial subs do it full justice. Sure you would be able to watch it like any normal show, but all the crazy stuff requiring pausing will most likely be absent. But who knows, maybe Crunchyroll will surprise and HorribleSubs through some miracle keep it intact.

Having said that, I'd rather wait for a real subber.

    http://utw.me/2012/01/07/about-nisemonogatari/

After some deliberation with the involved staff last night, we’ve decided to hold out working on Nisemonogatari until the Blurays, regardless of the quality of Crunchyroll subs.

While we did work on simulcasted shows in the past, the reasons for doing them have always outweighed the reasons not to. With Gosick, Crunchyroll provided no 720p version; with Fate/Zero, the streams were 360p and hardsubbed. In both cases, the total work involved wasn’t too bad, either.

Neither is the case with Nisemonogatari. Crunchyroll will be providing 720p video and subs about an hour after airing, and the work involved in subbing such a series is astronomical. We’d probably end up releasing up to 24 hours after airing, which makes the venture all the more pointless when speedy rips at 720p resolution will be available so quickly. Not to mention that this would be by far the smartest decision in terms of preserving our sanities; we’d probably burn out a few weeks into the show working under such demanding and pointless conditions.

So rather than doing all the work twice, we’ve decided to hold out until the BDs and do a spectacular job on those. Sorry to disappoint those of you who were looking forward to following Nisemonogatari with us, but unfortunately our lives do come first.
I'll be waiting for BD releases then.

Hmm... Just like the trailers made me think, I still don't know what to expect from this show, except for the obvious heavy dialogue and a bit more clever fanservice. But it was made clear Fire Sisters will feature more prominently like was promised. The very beginning baffled me for a while, but it must be related to some case later revealed and Senjougahara wanting to keep Arararagi out of it. Pretty interesting she likes to play games like that considering she was almost restrained and raped in the past... Oh, well, I guess it works as a therapy for her and Araragi won't mind as long as it's Senjougahara.

Araragi is showing quite deep characterisation here. It's good of course he's not only a wannabe hero saving anybody in trouble and a Senjougahara fanboy - now he's also a genuine pervert. I almost fear what the combination of this perverted directing and the perverted Araragi will produce when he finally reaches Nadeko - assuming he ever will.

I never really liked Hachikuji before (believe it or not), but this episode made me change my mind. Now she beats Nadeko, but is still below Kanbaru, mainly due to the ero promo vid that I watched a while ago.

Hanekawa is way above that because of Kizumonogatari.

Senjougahara is not even on the scale because, well, watch the first few minutes of Nise.

The moment of truth where I have to decide if I want to wait for the BDs, or watch a sub-par fansub.

Someone convince me that HS aren't as bad as they used to be.

It's dangerous to go alone. Take Nep.

It's pretty well subbed with signs and all. The image isn't very sharp though. I remember Bake being better in that department.

Having the slow paino version of Hachikuji's OP from last season helped. I didn't like Hachikuji that much early last season due to her noisy, original OP2 - but she's the closest "friend" character that Araragi has. He literally goes all out when he's around her, and she's on the same idiotic/fun scale to match him.

I was pretty detached from it all during the first half of the episode, despite it featuring Hitagi of all people. It may have been the need to adjust to the pace, or the image quality.. or that it took till the 2nd half to actually talk about something of substance (Araragi's problems).

    Episode 2:

Leave it to Shaft to have a show that's 50% fanservice and is still the most interesting watch i had all week. Kanbaru aside, was Senguku always that huge a slut?

Sengoku felt almost like a different character - until her mom got back home at which point she returned somewhat to the old one, even if she still seized the opportunity to attack Arararagi physically. But let's not forget she totally wanted to appear more than half-naked in front of Araragi already in Bakemono.

Kanbaru was her old self, though. I never found it easy to judge the type and level of attachment she has for Araragi, but I suppose this episode revealed at the very least it's not all platonic nor faked for the sake of Senjougahara, and she isn't above touching a male body. I'm not sure if that's something Senjougahara would find positive or not, considering she's supporting Araragi to stay in contact with Kanbaru.

Fire Sisters are still kept on the backseat despite this show being about them, but I don't necessarily mind. Their relatively low level of exposure goes well hand in hand with the bare trickle of information Koyomi has of their activities and also the, so far, slow pace of their investigations. So, the little screentime accentuates the fact we, or Koyomi, don't know what they are after in their hero game.

    LINKS PEOPLE!!

    Horriblesubs - Episode 02

    -------------------------------

I'm not sure if it's the show or me that's lacking focus. Nisemono so far feels really different to Bakemono. Bakemono's arcs centred on the problems of one girl and had Araragi try to solve them. The solving took around 3 episodes. Nisemono has Araragi pretty much seeking the problem himself.. and is taking forever to find it. That allows time for some older characters to make some appearances, but doesn't go down well for those who were expecting the solid pacing of Bakemono to carry itself into the second series.

Nadeko was like a completely different character, yes. This was also the first time they've had a one-on-one in their own room though... At least she realises she looks like a pervert to others, haha. (It was interesting to see how much that scene was similar to a doujin that I read).

Most of the Kanbaru stuff went over my head even though I don't hate her as a character or anything.

Once again I'm disappointed at Horrible's video quality. Not only the sharpness, but the vividness of the colours. It's so washed out and mellow that it really doesn't make an up-front presentation to grab my attention - putting me into a laid-back, slightly uncaring mode.

    Episode 3 - HS

    - - - - - - - - -

After this is feels like the story purposefully appeared little more than fanservice for two eps and even the beginning of this ep to suddenly drop the bomb. The plot feel several hundred percent more complicated now. It's still premature to say how Fire Sisters are connected to this con man, assuming he is a con man and not simple furthering his own separate agendas, or if they are at all.

Senjougahara's dual personality appeared nicely between lecturing to Araragi and talking to Hanekawa (if that was true). Seems like Araragi is for sure receiving the sharp end of it. Well, I enjoyed all of it. It's such strange and exaggerated theater.

I liked the cellphone scene, it shows how Senjougahara only truly acts like herself around the ones she loves.

I wouldn't go so far as to call the precedent events filler, the series thrives on its characters so knowing more about them can only be a good thing. This especially since there's hardly any interaction between them besides Araragi + girl.

Some of Araragi's cool vampirism FTW. I really can't wait for Kizumonogatari.

    Dere Gahara, *moe dies*

BTW, this needs a new thread. This show is Nisemonogatari.
