Man, I had to check and see if this was filler after watching it.
It was so disconnected with what was going on. It's like we took this little detour into the tragic past of this side character and then resolved his lifelong conflict all in one episode.
I must agree, this really felt like filler. Too bad, considering it finally started picking up again.
I thought this was better than the previous episode... Because at least by the end this promised things finally get started.
I can't remember the last time I actually enjoyed Naruto being dumb.
Me too, lol. So much for secret island where they won't be found and all.Originally Posted by Penner

I suppose the relevance would depend on whether and how fast Kisame could summon help from his remaining few buddies. After all, returning from his hibernation right there would be a death sentence, on a deserted island full of enemies, weeks of travel from anywhere. Can Madara or the plant dude conjure themselves to far away places they haven't ever visited before? It's hard to judge haxor powers.
We can't be sure that the plant guy can detect Kisame when he's in that hibernating state. If Bee can't even notice his presence as he carries it on his fricken back I think we can assume that he's untraceable in his current form.
Indeed. That's why I'm thinking Kisame would need to restore himself to his full corporeal form and then send some sort of message to either the plant guy or Madara. However, would he anymore be alive when Madara arrived, is another question. I don't think the plant guy would be of much assistance against the combined might of Bee, Naruto, Yamato, Gai, and whoever else is there on the island with them. Logic says Kisame shouldn't be at 100% strength immediately after revival, but who knows.
I don't know why you guys think Kisame is in some kind of debilitating coma or something.
My assumption is he's hiding inside Samehada for this very purpose, and I don't see why he'd be all weak or anything when he finally decides to come out.
The explanation they gave for why Kisame can't be detected is because Samehada has the same chakra signature Kisame does. People can sense Kisame, it's just that they assume it's the sword that they are sensing.
They say that because Samehada shared chakra with Kisame, they 'feel' the same.
That makes me think: If Bee shared enough chakra with Samehada, he might notice that Kisame is in there, because Samehada changes his chakra to that of Bee's. There is no telling how long that takes, though
