I dont even know what to say about this episode. Itīs just so ... boring. You know, if you do an anime about rather simple sports tactics, you better do it with style. See Prince of Tennis.
This, however, is like a worse version of Inazuma Eleven/Tsubasa. Take away strong characters and an exciting presentation and you end up with Area no Kishi.
This is 26 episodes, right? Because I donīt really want to watch this for much longer.
Mahou showtime doens't say how long this will go for.Originally Posted by MFauli

No idea why Iīm still watching this anime. All I thought over the course of the whole episode was "get to the end, get to the end". And thank you, dear producers, giving as filler-episode next week for an anime that isnīt much more than filler in itself.
As for one extra annoying part, WHAT is the freaking deal with dating each other? "Are you two going out?" - "NONONONONONO!!!". What is wrong with you? Sheīs hot, heīs a popular player, you both clearly like each other. And youīre too old to be all shy about girls/boys. That and the "oh noez, her lips touched this bottle. This is like an indirect kiss ..."-scene were reeeeeally annoying.
Looking forward to the final soccer match, where that mysterious reporter publishes his "Enoshima striker Aizawa Kakeru is seeing a girl. How can the nation of Japan allow such a vile person to continue playing soccer?"-article.
I liked this match. Suguru tutoring Kakeru is so much better than having him take over Kakeru instead. The only real issue with that now is if it'll make him King/Knight, or just make him a better knight.
Throwing the blond catalyst in there was also good to spice things up from here on. Her rack bounced an awful lot when she moved and talked.
Phi-trick.. is that even physically possible?
If it's not Isuzu-chan Mii~
Well, usually the phi trick is the ball going straight and the player going around the defender.
But since in that show they're able to have back spin as strong as in snooker or tennis, well it would be possible in their world.
Paraboloid are possible with flying balls, like freekick. I've never seen enough spin in a ball that it would change its trajectory so dramatically when touching grass... or on a very short trajectory.
All the things I really like to do are either illegal, immoral, or fattening. And then: Golf.
If the phi trick is a problem to you, how did you not react to Araki's trick last ep. That was even worse!
If you remember, he kicked the ball towards another player, flew past the defender.
The ball touched the ground, the backspin was so strong it came back right back to him, all of that at high speed.
It clearly has been set out of reality from the very beginning. It's just getting worse every ep.

Super-back-spin was pushing my limits, sure.. but to change trajectory while touching grass is a bit too much for me.Originally Posted by David
If the idea was that you kick the ball in the air so that it travelled in a straight line, bounced + spun + changed direction, bounced back to center-line... then that would be a little better. (aka diamond trick instead of phi)

Yeah, whatever. Donīt even try to make an attempt at a love drama. Youīre not clever enough for that, dear anime.
I liked it well enough, though it obviously fell short of actual drama. Mai turned out to be rather mild as far as spicing goes, but it got a little blood running anyway.
Araki's search for food and their attempts at scoring the boots were much more fun in comparison, albeit much less eyecandy.

Why does Kakeru always start on the bench? It makes no sense other than like how Ultraman Tiga always runs low on energy before finishing up a fight - for "suspense".
Phi-trick was as superhuman as before, so that was to be expected. Araki's "scorpion kick" was funny though. The commentator said he jumped, be the animation showed that he was still planted on the ground. Indeed, unless you intended to perform an overhead kick like that from the get-go, you couldn't have changed your airborne positioning like that without traction.
From a physics point of view, I'd have thought you can gain more height by putting your energy purely into a thrust with your head instead of wasting the energy in order to induce a spin...
But Mai showed up in street clothes again, so all's cool.

Indeed, the scorpion trick is a rare occurence... Because if you can do it, normally you're able to headsmash the same ball.
The scorpion trick is used if you were not able to jump because of a defender, or tripped or something.
To me, it's more of a fun trick, something that really pleases the audience and generally infuriates the other team as you show how easy it is for you to score and they aren't even good enough to stop you.

Seems like it's becoming more and more... well unwatchable maybe?
Kakeru did not goal against his team.
So the explanation they'll give us is that the other guy countered his shot with his full power, creating an hyper mega giga railgun shoot that did travel 80m FTL to the other side goal?

God, is this series becoming a drag to watch. Everything is so ... amateurishly presented. Weīre being shown 100s of attempts to score a goal, and than Kakeru finally gets one in. But itīs completely undramatic. Thereīs zero excitement going on. :/
Also, this Asuka-guy can teleport, cant he. We see him in one scene blocking person A. Person A passed to person B. And Asuka is there to attack person B. lol.
They made the Yoin way too strong, tbh. Now itīll feel utterly nonsensical, when Enoshima inevitably wins.
Asuka blocks it and pulls a counter at lightning speed. They changed the presentation up a bit for effect right at the end of the episode, bit it wasn't an "instant" shoot straight down the pitch like the timing suggested.Originally Posted by David
I'm actually liking these episodes against Yoin since they focus more on training and fitness that go along with the tactics. Most of the other matches were mostly about genuis play or weakness-matching (yes, despite teleporting Asuka and all).
I want Yoin to win, but Enoshima will pull their Deus Ex and have Sugugu come back from soccer-heaven for a while. I hate it when that happens. And it definitely will since the whole point of that backstory was to show that Suguru can beat Asuka in 10 minutes.Originally Posted by MFauli
