Haha, that would give any but the most desperate guy a mindfuck.

    I disagree.

He will always be compared with his brother, as are all close siblings of starts who happen to be doing the same thing (two soccer players, two brother at the same school..). I don't consider that being Star vs Star1.5.

The way they've played things out currently (it's less the heart transplant but seemingly the face-transplant) that makes Kakeru into a slightly different version of Kakeru. People are recognising Suguru's aura in Kakeru.

In the extreme case you could even say Suguru reincarnated himself as Kakeru during those scenes.

Well my reasoning is like this, since his brother is a huge star carrying the hope of Japans football on his shoulder those are some pretty big shoes to fill. This basically mean that people will expect him to be at the same level as him, but viewing him as 1.5 might be a bit much since it implies that Kakeru will be a better player than Suguru more like a 0.5-1.0 at most. This is basically the stance most will have that don't know him and they may be disappointed that he's not like him.

Well people have already said that the bit at the end is anime original. As for the part with Yuusuke it could be as simple as the fact that when Kakeru is serious he gives of similar vibes as Suguru as we've never really seen him with a serious expression before. Though most likely that's not what they were going for, just saying there could be more explanations to it or it could just be Yuusuke imagining things from the loss of Suguru and unconsciously connected their images together because he wants Kakeru to play. And Kakerus expression could be an effect of Yuusukes words about running away as it obviously reminded him a lot of his brother.

I'm finding it hard to like this show as much as I liked it in the beginning. The psychiatrist contributes so much tension to the show she she's around that its hard to get into it. It's almost as if she liked Suguru, but then Suguru revealed that he liked Nana, so she's screwing this up for them. It's only on interpretation, but its the best one that describes the "is she trying to cause trouble or what?" feeling that surrounds her.

Kakeru's problem resolved a lot faster than I had anticipated, on the other hand. I wonder if it'll come back though.. would he one day think again about whether the dream is his or his brother's. The whole idea that the dream was shared works around this though.

Then you have the whole thing with him moving schools despite how much support his school team has given him. Some of the development just doesn't really sit right.

Ugh, that was simply too stupid when Seven told him about his heart transplant being from his brotherīs. What was the point of the scene between her and the crazy psychologist woman then?! Lol, at worst, telling Kakeru about it could have killed him, giving him a heart attack or the likes. Fortunately, this is a very shallow shounen-series, so that didnīt happen ...

And yes, both Kakeru and Seven changing schools just like that is on the silly side, too. Actually, it annoys me quite a bit, because usually in football-anime, you have one team that grows stronger. Right now, Area no Kishi seems to take a highly controversial route: Looking for already-good-players, then join their team. Haha. Thatīs usually what a villain would do

Indeed. Suguru didn't do it, for one. I was very confused about his character up until recently actually. He looked much too tall, muscular and mature to be 15. He never attended classes or appeared to wear a school uniform.

Seems like those waiting for a soccer anime are trolling themselves big time.
We're more in a drama/comedy anime and the preview clearly seems to indicate that.
That episode was truly bad in my humble opinion. Next one should follow.

Iīm wondering how theyīll deal with Arakiīs weight. Alright, he got fat after quitting the club, but even if he decides to re-join now, itīd take a lot of a comical element to have him turned back into his healthy old self within a, in terms of plot consequence, reasonable time span. Then again, a fat guy competing on national level soccer ... letīs just say Iīve never heard of truly overweight people playing high-level soccer successfully.

I guess, though, that Area no Kishi has already established several "cartoony" elements, so an overweight guy joining the team wouldnīt be that surprising.

On a sidenote, I canīt stand Seven. For someone that was part of the best members of the team, sheīs too much of Kakeruīs fangirl. Seriously, grow a pair of ovaries and find a girlsī soccer team or something similar.

I, on the other hand, can't watch this show without Seven. She's like the impossible girlfriend who is supportive of you yet shares your level of understanding completely (since she's probably just as good).

Realistically speaking her actions are explainable though. She came back to play soccer with Kakeru and Suguru. Playing for the girls' team doesn't quite match up with that as much as managing for Kakeru.

She might not always take on a water-carrying role. Things could turn out like they did in Cross Game.

I sure hope they keep up the beach soccer for a little longer before using the official field (if they can after they qualify to represent). Mandatory swimwear is great.

It would take something like 6 months to get fatty back to shape. Probably another six to be average high school soccer player stamina/strength even if he was high level not that long ago. A full year is a lot of time, I guess they'll show us how useful he can be even just leveling up and how he'll make it just in time.
Or someone else will prove being at least as good, if not better than he is, might be the new midget, Araki being his manager to bring him to incredible levels.

Nice troll indeed. 10 to 15 kg in 2 weeks *loooool*

Or they are twins... one is the king, the other one is fatty boy.

They can't have us with the SD trick, can they!?

Lol, wow. Thatīs the most nonsensical, complete cop-out Iīve ever seen. Iīve been waiting for some comedic "this is what he imagines himself, but this is what he actually looks like"-scene, but no, this anime seems to be serious about Araki being fit all of sudden.

On an unrelated note: Seven is one of the cuter anime-girls in recent times <3

That's what I mean by the troll - the fact that his imagined image extends into the episode preview. The fact that this show is Area no Kishi, and that they purposely hid Araki's body from view on the grandstands puts me short of 100% confident though.

On your unrelated note, you said this, so get lost.

    10 days. :/

You know, I would have actually preferred a 100% comedic approach to Arakiīs weight loss, rather than this totally seriously meant 10-day-change. Come on! Itīs just silly in a non-comedic way.

Anyway. Was that "killer pass" of Arakiīs that lead to the third goal supposed to be this super hard-to-catch pass that Suguru talked about? Because if so, I found the whole presentation to be quite underwhelming. Pass, next scene we see Kakeru being on the ball and shoot, goal. No exciting "can I get this pass? can I do it?!"-scene where we see him running in slowmo for 10-20 seconds. The show seemed to make a big deal of this conductor-knight-relationship, so I expected something more ... "epic".

Yeah.. 10 days with no comedy was a little underwhelming. If you're going to do something ridiculous, admitting it and going all the way would at least makes it enjoyable. Now we can expect Araki to perform more or less top-shape instead of constant weight-loss powerup (for better or worse).

I didn't think Araki's "killer pass" was exactly like Suguru's. Suguru admired Araki for having a better "passing sense" than he did - that is, intuitively knowing when and how hard to pass. Araki's the "Brazillian Soccer" character of the team before he's the conductor I feel.

We didn't get the whole "where is he passing t- oh shit there's Kakeru!" moments like in the game before with Suguru, but even that would have gotten old sooner or later.

Regarding the passes, I guess we have to remember we're at the end of the match and everyone except Araki is a little exhausted.

So you can have exciting moments as everyone is slowing down, but that won't be super fast ultraskilled game.
Also, the pair needs to play together to create out of this world game. What they are doing for now is mere pro level soccer

Weight loss and muscle preservation all in 10 days?
If he had 2 to 5 to lose, that would have been hard to swallow but possible. That would fit with 20 minutes of play.
But they really did screw that part. How can we enjoy slow power-ups when they troll us that much?

So the game is about to end in a draw and everyone will have to fight to be in the remaining team to play official games.
True that most of SC's players are a tad useless as they are today, playing like over trained puppets and no imagination.
And it's not like all FC players are that useful either.
I feel like Oda might be useful.
Takase is harder to tell, very efficient in air battles obviously, but can't manage low balls very well.

All the things I really like to do are either illegal, immoral, or fattening. And then: Golf.
