It doesn't reduce problems and complications. Let's say I met the love of my life tomorrow and six months from now we want to get married. How is that going to happen when my parents probably still expect me to start dating some girl I knew from high school? And it is, itself, a problem. When you're gay and in the closet you're constantly checking your behavior, mannerisms, etc to see if you're sending off the wrong signals. You are lying by omission every time someone tells you to check out the ass on that chick and you don't out yourself. It's just a constant, aching, and ultimately pointless mental exercise in lying to everyone around you.
