Why wouldn't they have been pulled out then?

Because it happens so fast that you get killed before you can get pulled out?

Think Eva pilots and their neural links.

I really didn't hate much of the show at all aside from the fact Shu needed to man up a little. However, he's made me hate him even more this episode..... WTF at crying about Gai getting all the attention? Where did that come from?

I felt pity for him this episode. What Gai and Inori did was pretty low. Shu was manipulated even by the girl he thinks he could trust, so he feels lost and ends up depending on the other Funeral members. If I were in his shoes, I would have pulled out Inori's void and killed Gai and everyone else there. However, we all know pride is not one of Shu's sins. If anything, it is the lack of it that makes him hard to like.

It came from Funeral Palour's members contrasting with himself.

He just cruises through life without an objective, admiration or goal. Funeral members all seem to focus on whatever Gai's telling them to do. He's confused at how such a person can spin others around like that.

I too disliked what Gai and Inori did. But it makes sense. She's an infiltrator through and through - be it research facilities or men's boys' hearts. In both cases, it seems she also has trouble leaving unscathed.

Bitches and whores, the anime. I'm with Shinta on this one, I'd get the bitch's void and go play surgeon with Gai's organs.

Shu cashed out all badass credits he stored last episode and is now -10 so next week better fucking deliver.

Edit: I loled hard when she went into his room though, talk about adding assault to injury

Looks like Gai has the virus. Or mechanical organs/limbs.

Gai gave Inori her name. That could be taken as either: a) She was created, which is possible, but doubtful, or b) She was found without any memory of who she was or what she had been doing, so Gai "raised" her. The second theory plays into my original theory of believing Inori and Shu are connected in their past, as it seems pretty evident Shu has some lost/forgotten memories as well.

I don't believe for one second that Inori truly wants Shu to stay away from her. She may have acted out of command from Gai in the beginning, but she disobeyed him just to save Shu in the previous episode.

One thing that's been bothering me about Coalguys... In all the descriptions of GC, it names the group as "Undertaker". So why do they use "Funeral Parlour"?

Inori has feelings for him. It affected her and made her disobey Gai. That's why she doesn't want to develop these feelings and asked him to stay away. At the same time, I don't think she was at the level to mean all those things she said, and really did say them out of duty.

Voids are just huge "I win" buttons aren't they?

And I'm still not ruling out the possibility that Gai's little self pity fest wasn't completely planned out beforehand, sounds just like the sort of thing a manipulative cunt like him would come up with.

It was definitely planned out, but he probably does feel that way to some extent.

I can't believe I didn't even think about the possibility of combining Voids. Maybe it's just Inori's Void that can be combined though... but either way, that was pretty awesome. I was assuming the combination would be something related to gravity, but I guess a giant laser cannon is just as good.

The scene before the combination... fits strongly into my theory of Inori being connected to Shu's childhood. Or it could indicate the "interference" of the unknown being that is supposed to awaken soon looking for her King. I'm more inclined to lean on my first theory, but the second is a viable possibility.

I was actually disappointed in Inori's use of guns. I was never impressed with the fad of holding your gun sideways and shooting. It was great to see her actually do something though.

I feel like there was more I was going to comment on, but I can't remember it now.

At least the "bad guys" are pretty smart. The pen didn't signal any forces, it just automatically fired the satellites. Kill a potential double agent along with the enemy commander and his forces. He'd just be a liability anyway. Take them all out in one shot.

I just groaned. Gangsta Style is perhaps the least accurate way of shooting. Using two at the same time Gangsta Style decreases accuracy by an order of magnitude.

Inori would have impressed me a lot more if she just used a single gun in a two-handed grip and popped them off real cleanly. That scene really made no sense at all, since she shot using a professional stance at the range.

The rest of this episode was largely a bunch of gobbledygook and subordinates fawning over Gai , no need to really comment on it.

The majority of the episode was pretty alright. My impression changed once Shu actually took down the satellite though.. which changed it to (that episode was alright.... i think?)

My favourite part would have been the talk in the rain between Shu and Inori. It was short, but I completely felt in tune with how Shu felt. I would have talked in the exact tone as well, only to stop when I was told to.. but then feeling pained and sort of frustrated at not knowing what to do with it.

I enjoyed it. Maybe I'm just not as picky. The buildup was definitely better/faster in the TV version, and the abrupt end fit... but I don't really think the version itself is superior.
