I think Doki is going to sub this as well... out of those three, which do most of you prefer? I haven't watched anything from Commie or Coalguys in years, but I do remember them being kinda bad.

I always leave commie as a last option. I saw CoalGuys version and I didn't see anything bad about it. Doki tends to be slow on certain projects while others get released quite fast. For instance their Persona 4 releases are quite fast, whereas Hanasaku Iroha or Idolmaster release a week later. I'll stick with CoalGuys for now. If Doki releases, I'll add it to the 1st post.

The animation is amazing, but everything else is so meh. Not to mention there was already another "pull a weapon or something out of my lady friends chest" just last season in Dantalion no Shoka.

    Also, boobs.

Boy meets mysterious girl, mecha battles all over the place, boy gets awesome power from girl, boy owns using that new power.

This is like Code Geass for kids.

It's got promise. I don't know where supercell finds these vocalists, but I like.

The animation is pretty, and I like Inori's character. The quasi-flashbacks (wasn't clear whether he had actually experienced them or if it was just the void gene) were intriguing as well. It's too early to say much else really...

I think the flashbacks are what he has actually experienced. Gai mentions at one point "So you're Ouma Shu", without having any communication with Inori after their meeting and her subsequent capture, so it seems to me they knew about him previously. The flashbacks also suggest he might have had something to do with the incident 10 years ago, and he was childhood friends with Inori (which would be why the resistance group is familiar with him).

Of course, Inori showed no signs of recognition when they met, unless you count her Jacob's Ladder trick with the string (which, even then, you wouldn't know was recognition until seeing the flashback later in the episode).

I wasn't expecting to be following so many anime this season, but I'm glad I gave a few more the chance. This one looks like it could get even more interesting. Hopefully another group picks this up so I can archive it though (Doki seems to be moving rather slowly, as someone else mentioned previously).

I want to second Ryll's comment about Supercell and their vocalists, and shinta's comment about being reminiscent of Code Geass (it even uses the same first letters for the title, just reversed... coincidence?)

It's dangerous to go alone. Take Nep.

I wouldn't be so sure. The little robot, Funell, could very likely transmit data back to Gai and the Taketatsu Ayana voiced girl. I'm also not sure that the girl in the flashbacks is Inori. She looked somewhat different.

As for comparisons to Code Geass, Inori does not come across as a CC character. She's publicly known (but not as a "terrorist"), and is far more stoic. The cause (whatever it is...) came first over her own safety. Guilty Crown is no more a Code Geass style series than it is a Darker than Black series.

Maybe, but the flashbacks were fuzzy. Of course she would look different, especially if it's a younger version of her. But, I guess it could just be a major coincidence they made the same string design, and uttered the same phrase. I'll concede that the robot could have transmitted data; I had actually forgotten about that. But Inori definitely has something to do with his past, in my opinion.

shit is awesome, nice animation and such

but man, as soon as he pulled out that uber-sword, it went straight downhill for me
unless he gets an epic battlesuit/mech for that, its going to look extremely weird.

that scene right before the end is so embarassing :/

I agree with this part completely. Other than that, the other stuff is kind of wait and see.

Personally, my favourite part of this episode was the first 4 minutes. Real good cyberpunk stuff there, but then turns more generic later.

Mecha + song + hot chick = keeps my attention for a minimum few episodes at least.

I watched the first two episodes of this at NYAF/NYCC. The room was full before the viewing even started. Had to sit through two or three episodes of Sora no wo To to see it. The producers of the show were there, and so were a bunch of interesting people.

This series has a lot of music, and Gai is sexy. Funimation had a very good TL, so I'd sick with them. I'm pretty sure Coalguys checked off of Funi's TL, so not going to bother DLing from them.

I was somewhat disappointed when it went back to the school setting again, but being accepted into the resistance and becoming their new hero didn't sound quite right neither.

No more skimpy outfit for Inori.

What subgroup out of these would anyone recommend? Never used any of them before.

Hadena, CoalGuys, Commie, Dark-Soul Subs and KS. Thanks

That long haired guy is a bastard. He intentionally waited for the hostages to be killed off in order to strengthen Shu's resolve and make sure the plan succeeds. I don't dislike such methods usually (in fact I love them, like in Geass), but combined with his personality it is kind of off putting.
