Multiple personas? Fuck yah! I was afraid they wouldn't add that element.
Now they just need to turn the swag up to full volume and this shit will be awesome.
Eps 2 and 3 were so similar... we're still in the intro?
All the things I really like to do are either illegal, immoral, or fattening. And then: Golf.
The Princess Yukiko's Search for a Prince scene was the best part of this episode. Heh, her "secret weapons..." Indeed, too bad they didn't record it.
If this anime has one weakness, it's that they're just chugging away at the player team characters, with not too much development in between. I know that this is the same way the intro to the game went, but they could add a little development for other things Persona 4 had to offer. Right now they just blow through the little baddies without blinking an eye. Only the "bosses" get more than a single slash.
I did like the cameo of the music club girl and the sports team guys. Now where is the theater girl? These are the kind of things I mean. The characters were able to still pull off a normal school life in between what has already happened so far.
Game wise the Main Character (Yuu) got his Persona just 5 minutes before Shadow Yosuke appeared. This didn't have a dungeon to explore. And Chie got her Persona a few days later as they sought Yukiko's Castle. So yeah... this went really fast, but it was loyal to the game.
Since their current main focus is finding Yukiko, the formula will probably be repeated again next episode. They had to leave because Chie's Shadow put a strain on Chie.
I understand the writers need to appeal to those who played the game.
But for a non player, they have to tailor a nice story too, or those viewers might just leave and never get interrested in the game/license.
Right now, it seems a bit bland and we have a huge scenario copy/paste from last ep, when we do not even have enough background story regarding the main character and don't even understand how he can control his persona from scratch.
Maybe they should have had a little more focus on the MC in the first ep, then introduce the other two personas in ep 2 and have a fresh ep 3. Might be difficult due to chronological order and game, but an anime also has its rules to catch the audience.

They really don't David, this is obviously a series that will be catering to its specific fanbase. So like i said, you'll have to watch it from the right perspective if you'll want to enjoy it.
"It's ok to remove, copy and paste"
Anyway I can understand how you feel but it's hard to strike a balance between players and non players. The way things are now there's simply a longer than usual introduction so they're taking their time instead of rushing through everything and I don't see how that would have been good for the anime since it'd bring about problems in the pacing. But otherwise what Archangel said.
You are here alone again

That second Persona was a big deus ex machina. I don't know how the game pulled that off, but it would be a lot more believable if the people had some affinity to their Persona, and especially any extra Personas. For example, this Jack O'lantern seemed to be all about fire, so Yuu having had something significant to do with fire would have made it better. Now it's like he wandered a dungeon in some cheap 80's adventure game and picked up a random power up allowing switching to another Persona.
Although I reserve the right change that opinion if the opening scenes with the devilish dude and the icy secretary actually mean these "players" are selling their souls to use the Personas and accepting an extra Persona (out of nowhere) draws the due date that much closer.
Well the shows been hinting about it for some time as the ending says "Bonds of people is the true power" and coupled with the fact that Pyro Jack/Jack O'lantern is a persona from the magicians arcana that Yosuke holds the affinity is there just not quite in the same way you mentioned. In a way I guess you could say that the ending shows you this random power up.

I don't quite get what fireheart is saying; maybe that's something that will be more understable further down the show. But what you are saying, Archie, doesn't really explain anything I tried to address in my post. I don't have a problem with being Wild, per se, but that it would have been nice if he had had to go through something to summon a vastly different persona. But maybe being a lithium brain allows such a thing... After all, the other two had to defeat/accept their inner darkness to get their first persona manifestation. But being such a cold fish, I doubt Yuu would have an inner darkness in the first place.
Let's see if I can explain it in simpler terms, if you look at the card that he used to summon Pyro Jack/Jack O'lantern you'll see that it's the same card that Yosuke uses and basically when he establishes bonds to people he also gains access to their cards in short that's the power of the wild. That's what I meant with the ending showing the power up because in the second episode you saw the card that Yosuke holds go inside Yuu and in this episode you see the card that Chie gained go inside of Yuu.
Also they should explain more about Yuu and why he didn't face his shadow later on.
Edit: It's based a lot on tarot cards, the card Yuu holds is the Fool number 0 as wikipedia says about the Fool "The number 0 is a perfect significator for the Fool, as it can become anything when he reaches his destination as in the sense of 'joker's wild'. Zero plus anything equals the same thing."
Edit 2: Just noticed that they made a mistake with the Chariot arcana the number on the card is IIV though it's supposed to be VII.

I see. Thanks for the more detailed explanation!
Yuu's Arcana is the Fool. Number Zero. Empty... yet Infinite. A Wild Card. He can be anything.
