I actively avoid all fanart for pretty much all the shows i watch so i won't get spoiled, unless it's spoiler-free art :P

I try to, but sometimes people put that crap in their signatures and avatars, on completely non-anime related boards even.

Yeah... fanart spoiled the big surprise of Nico Robin joining the crew back in the Alabasta arc for me.

Same thing happened with me and Brook. Although they made it pretty clear throughout Thriller Bark that he was going to join.

Biggest surprise for me was probably Franky, or at least, it didn't become obvious he was joining until way after his introduction.

I remember spending most of the Water 7 arc thinking it was going to be Paulie.

I also remember for awhile thinking Wiper was going to join because that was the first time they ever gave a multi-episode tragic backstory flashback to a character that DIDN'T end up joining the crew.
