I think communism would work really well as long as I was the leader.
When man invented the bicycle he reached the peak of his attainments. Here was a machine of precision and balance for the convenience of man. And (unlike subsequent inventions for man's convenience) the more he used it, the fitter his body became. Here, for once, was a product of man's brain that was entirely beneficial to those who used it, and of no harm or irritation to others. Progress should have stopped when man invented the bicycle. ~Elizabeth West, Hovel in theHills
I don't mind these episodes. I've been watching for a LONG time, so these are scenes I've seen countless times...but it A) Beats filler by a mile and B) gets me in the mood for what is going to happen.
As a non-manga reader, maybe It is easier to enjoy the anticipation, speculate with friends, and eagerly wait for Thursday, week by week...as opposed to just waiting impatiently and desperately to see awesome things animated.
I'm personally in no rush for this show to finish, or catch up with the manga. I remember quite well what happened LAST time things moved 100+ episodes without so much as a bullrun of filler. Bring on the buildup and flashbacks, I say.

agreed. The bits of story in between, combined with the flashbacks (of cool parts in the show, btw) are definitely better.2 seconds of canon material > filler arc.

I still say I actually prefer Naruto's filler hell to all other methods of slowing down an anime series(short of going on hiatus). Because it's simply the easiest one to ignore on subsequent watchings.
Making sure not to buy any filler on DVD was easy with the original series. You just stopped buying everything after filler hell started.
With Shippuuden? It's much harder. With it's shorter filler arcs shotgunned all over the series...
I don't have a problem with a little recap, but they recap, recap the recap, then repeat the recap again and burn entire episodes on it instead of mixing a little bit at a time through the arc. I hate when the flow of a story comes to a dead stop.
Debatable... At least filler offers something new rather than beating the same old scenes to death over and over. It's the same key moments they keep recapping at various lengths also, that's probably what annoys me the most is that I've seen them so many times that I already have them all but memorized.
It would actually be pretty funny if they suddenly recapped instead a scene of no grandness and only remote relevance, one that nobody would even remember.
