    True Cross Academy =/= Vatican

I'm not sure where the court is held and if there are wards and barriers similiar to those in True Cross Academy.

however, I don't see why it is suppossed to be NOT suprising that someone like Amaimon attacks a True Cross bastion.
Holy Ground / lots of Exorcists etc

from what we know its extremely difficult for demons to get access to Assiah
    otherwise Satan wouldn't need Rin

Satan needs Rin because his his powers are so strong that possessing any old person's body wouldn't last long.

lol, fair enough. When you say "access", I wasn't sure whether you meant via possession, or just coming in and having a walk like Amaimon and Mephisto can.

Just the way those people were talking (Amaimon's here! What's he doing here?) as if he needs a reason to be here. Who needs to give a demon a reason to take down the Vatican?

its probably more likely that they are suprised that someone like Amaimon was able to get in there so suddently

or maybe that one of hell's generals is charging directly into the True Cross' main base, maybe its considered suicide or impossible due to certain barriers and wards.
or maybe its a somewhat hidden or concealed room/base.
only accessable through those keys which mephisto(?) created.

I don't know but it seems like its somewhat rare for demons to attack them directly like that

Again because of the barriers, if a big shot like Amaimon couldn't get into the True Cross Academy without a key from Mephisto then it's more than likely that the main headquarters is at least equally fortified. This leaves us with the logical conclusion that demons can't get in without permission/stolen keys or that if they get in they break though the barrier they have to be an even bigger big shot than Amaimon.

That would make sense if they said "how did he get in here", instead of "What would the Earth King be doing here?". The first implies that he can't physically be here, and there must have been some flaw or betrayal that resulted in it. The latter implies that he wouldn't normally be here unless he's some unknown objective (which isn't destroying the Vatican).

Compare to Shura's words in episode 13, ~19:45: "How could a big fish like you get into the Academy?"

True but from what I can hear they say, "Naze koko ni" which if I'm not wrong pretty much says "why's he here", which as you said can mean he wouldn't have a reason to be there but it sounds more like the "how did he get in here" type of line than the latter. Also seeing as Amaimon kinda listens to Mephisto it can also be that Amaimon have done some work for the Vatican before but more like a freelance demon which makes them wonder why he would attack them.

From what I could see, not that I'd make such a big deal out of it, is that their choice of words was analogous to: "Why did the storm hit us when the weather forecast said it would pass us by 200 km." I reckon Amaimon, Mephisto, and their ilk are basically eternal (foes), just like Satan himself, and thus more like a force of nature Vatican cannot destroy for good, only try to thwart. Based on their words, though, they simply didn't expect Amaimon to come knock their doors. I guess he hasn't before.

For the record, the Earth King's invasion is also anime exclusive

Isn't there a rule against speaking of the manga differences in the anime threads?

Kraco and I had a little back and forth on that one

    [20:53] <Arkangel> Kraco
    [20:53] <Kraco> ?
[20:53] <Arkangel> It's not a spoiler if the anime is taking a different route right?
[20:54] <Kraco> That depends. Plus it's a fact the anime only watchers might not want to know it beforehand.
    [20:54] <Arkangel> Well... it's annoying though
[20:54] <Arkangel> They're discussing the hell out of a discrapancy in the ao exorcist thread when it's just that
    [20:55] <Arkangel> A discrepancy
[20:55] <Arkangel> The manga never featured Amaimon breaking into the vatican
    [20:55] <Kraco> I see.
[20:56] <Kraco> Then it would be useless to even mention that, though, right? It would be irrelevant if it never happened in the manga.
[20:57] <Arkangel> I'm just saying... discussion could be better served on other matters
    [20:57] <Kraco> I'm happy there's discussion at all.
    [20:58] <Arkangel> It's fruitless though
[20:58] <Kraco> And nothing prevent you from posting something else. Whether it catches or not is not predetermined.
[20:59] <Kraco> If the anime and manga diverged for good, it's not fruitless. The manga will have no meaning anymore.
[20:59] <Arkangel> neither will discussion on matters with no explanation at all
    [20:59] <Arkangel> have any meaning*
[21:00] <Kraco> I don't get your point at all. It's a discussion forum and people are discussing, even on topic to boot. What's there to complain about?
    [21:01] <Arkangel> There's no real answer
[21:01] <Arkangel> So what's the point in discussing it?
[21:02] <Kraco> If there was an answer readily available, it would have been a really short discussion.
    [21:02] <Arkangel> Discussion should have a purpose
    [21:02] <Arkangel> To reach a conclusion
[21:03] <Kraco> That's not true at all, especially considering Gotwoot, which is a place for entertainment above all.
[21:03] <Arkangel> So the means justify the ends?
[21:03] <Arkangel> Or the lack of them
[21:03] <Kraco> Life is full of discussions that won't really reach any sort of conclusive ending. They just terminate on their own at some point.
[21:05] <Arkangel> Then we'd all benefit from spending our time on more fruitful endeavours
    [21:05] <Arkangel> I'm doing everyone a favour
[21:06] <Kraco> If we all thought only about spending our time on more fruitful endeavours, we would stop watching anime, abandon Gotwoot, and develop ourselves physically and mentally.
    [21:07] <Arkangel> I'm already doing that
[21:07] <Arkangel> Gotwoot is my cheat day

But the rules on thread http://forums.gotwoot.net/showthread...cy-on-Spoilers still stand

    Gotwoot Policy on Spoilers

It has recently come to our attention that spoilers are bad. It has also come to our attention that some Gotwooters are bad about knowing what does or does not constitute a spoiler. Therefore we're happy to bring to you the official:

    Gotwoot Forums Policy on Spoilers

No spoiling is allowed on this forum whatsoever. Spoiling is regarded as providing information that would be otherwise unknown to the anime-only watcher by a person that has acquired such information from outside sources, for example the manga.

Those posts and/or comments that would be regarded as spoilers are, but are not limited to:

Anything which reveals the solution of a current problem or puzzle, thus denying the reader the pleasure of working out the correct answer.

Anything which reveals future, un-seen as of yet plot elements, thus denying the reader the proper suspense when reading the book or watching the movie.

Identifying whether a character is in/not in the manga, especially when the comment reveals whether a character will become important in the future of the anime.

Any reference to a person, place, or thing that is either in the manga and/or not yet in the anime. If it is in the anime, it is a remark that makes it out to be something that has not been shown yet.

Any reference to an unsubbed episode/chapter of an anime/manga.
But seeing as this is not being followed, I guess its better to stop reading this thread.

Rin's flame reminded me of Yoshi's kekkai technique from Kekkaishi where he can choose who he wants to negate or destroy. So Rin can also control who to burn or who to protect?

Looks like it. Regardless of whether this is following the manga or not (and that includes whether it's back on track or not), this episode went pretty well.

My only problem with it was how Rin just destroyed Amaimon in a single stroke without much explanation. He was owning him before, but it wasn't quite 1-hit-kill level of ownage. Plus, the Earth King was in his full mode, which should only mean that he's more powerful.

Dude this episode was sweet as fuck, if it keeps up this will be the new Full Metal Alchemist of fillers. I wonder if they'll feature a battle versus Satan in the ending though... at this point i can't see it looking anything else like a Soul Eater ending, unless they raise Rin's power level to unimaginable heights in the upcoming episodes.
