    Fanfiction Works and Recommendations

Please post your anime and manga fanfiction works, favorites, or recommendations here. Since I don't expect much traffic on such a topic, I thought that one thread is enough for fanfiction in general, including discussions on the stories.

The fanfics can be prose, or poetry, as long as it is anime, manga, and I guess game related. Just include the title of the original work, and any info you deem necessary such as genre, a short summary or characters included.

Here is one I just made yesterday:

    A Crane's Wish
    Anime Series: Code Geass
    Characters: Lelouch and C.C.
    Genre: Romance, Drama
Summary: Epilogue for Code Geass. It begins when C.C. speaks the final lines of R2, "Geass, the power of kings, brings people solitude. Not completely true, is it? Right, Lelouch?"
    Status: Complete (Oneshot)

Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality

    Series: Harry Potter
    Characters: All of them
    Genre: Hard Sci Fi
Summary: This is not a strict single-point-of-departure fic - there exists a primary point of departure, at some point in the past, but also other alterations. The best term I've heard for this fic is "parallel universe".
    Status: Ongoing?

There are too many stories I've read that I've considered excellent, but I'm just posting a very fantastic crossover I've been reading lately.

    Suzumiya Haruhi no Index
    Category 1: Haruhi Suzumiya series
Category 2: Toaru Majutsu no Index/とある魔術の禁書目録
    Genre(s): Sci-Fi/Humor
    Rating: Rated: T
Summary: After discovering the existence of a place named ‘Academy City’,
the SOS brigade have to deal with an unlucky transfer student… one that
might just destroy the universe if they're not careful.
    Status: OnGoing
Warning: Novel (Index) and Manga (Railgun) characters not yet featured in the anime are featured.

I myself have written a few, but meh... I won't post the links.

I'm not interested in Harry Potter so I skipped that one, but I tried giving Suzumiya Haruhi no Index a try.

I'm having trouble reading it because of all the punctuation errors. There are some other grammatical errors, but those are few compared to the missing commas, periods, and the like.

I know perfect grammar is not a necessity in writing, but if the first chapter has so many errors, it raises the question of whether the rest of the story is worth reading.

What makes this "very fantastic"? If you could tempt me more, I might give it another try. I like both shows in the crossover, so it shouldn't take much.

Punctuation does get better on following chapters (though I must admit I've read so much that I think I begun to ignore it a bit... which is bad)

Why I liked it... because the author (despite the flaws) makes a great job to blend the two universes in a belivable way. The author also manages to portray each individual personality on spot (even on those manga/novel only characters).

The best characterization, by far, is Kyon. The author manages to write in the very same style the novels are written. With Kyon's input at almost everything with his usual sarcasm. And it never fails to characterize the other characters either. Format changes accordingly when Kyon isn't present as well.

Meh... another reason for me to not link my own stories. While I've gotten better... I do cringe sometimes with how I wrote at the start.

I don't like Harry Potter either. Trust me on the Rationality story, Shinta. It's brilliantly written.
