    omg omg omg
gotwoot down for over a day, finally it starts working again, only to have the first kaiji-episode ready. downloading now, watching as quickly as possible!

    EDIT:

Oh my. This show is so freaking exceptional at creating this absolutely hopeless, horrifying atmosphere of failing and losing. The whole temptation-thing makes all the more an impact if you were dieting yourself at least once. Though, I have to say that it was disappointing to see Kaiji that unchanged, or should i say, back-changed. THought heīd be smarter and tougher after all the shit he endured during season 1.

I definitely understand the temptation thing. I diet regularly, so I know full well that once you drink a sip from the first can or take a bit from that yakitori, you're not gonna stop til you are fully or even overly satiated.

He never should have had the free beer, but I can't really blame him. His plan for escape is almost impossible at best. I'd criticize his actions if he had a solid plan, but since he himself knows it is a pipe dream, it really is hard to fight for. His greed and lack of self control might have actually opened up a better path for him with the gambling offer.

I hope to see some creative cheating soon. Not going to go all "it has to be 100% realistic" but you can do some sort of treatment as long as it hasn't been long since the fingers were cut off right? Or is that just wrong.

wow, i totally cannot predict if this "awakening" is supposed to be good or bad for Kaiji. On the one hand, it feels positive, because of how dull and removed from all the game Kaiji seemed, so it might trigger his "luck", as could be seen in season 1. On the other hand, thereīs really nothing so far that makes me feel that Kaiji deserves to win...other than due to sheer luck. And that leader-guy didnt look nervous at all.

Though, in general, I really hope that Kaiji has a moment of true awakening soon. Not awakening in terms of gambling, but in terms of his past. He got through several life-death-situations, but now he comes off like a complete dumbass, as if nothing happened.

Eh, I hope it goes to skill games and some cheating soon, I find it hard to take the pure luck discussion seriously(I play poker on the side, and stay very far away from casinos/blackjack and the like.. lol), it's fine when there's an element of skill though.. at least it seems fair with no rake so it's EV=0. Then again it's probably rigged.

The theme throughout Kaiji has been that there are two types of people: those who use and those who get used. Kaiji isn't using anyone at this point, so we can assume the game is rigged and a few of the members are using him (this is Kaiji, that much should be assumed from the beginning). Also, the guy sitting next to the leader became a little upset when the new guy wanted to record the rolls in his book. It's likely that he's in on it with the leader.

well, ive got to admit that i didnt like that. i mean...there was no skill involved at all, no trick, either. oh well, maybe the boss did use some trick with that last throw, but still...

Kaiji is acting like a complete fool, which is extremely disappointing. i hoped that this game would proceed with the boss attempting some trick, but Kaiji, thanks to his awakening, instantly counters the trick and wins, so the story could go on with this one-day free time. But this Kaiji is nothing like the Kaiji from the end of season 1. Obviously, there are more episodes coming, so I really hope that this changes soon.

Well, thatīs as much of an awakening as weīll get for now, I guess. Getting exciting. Though I still dont know, how exactly Kaiji is going to beat the foreman. That guy seems to cheat somehow, so ...

indeed, awesome episode. i think the only anime that got my emotions up that much as Death Note. Doesnt happen too often that I keep watching the opening of every ep, too.

Though I wonder why the foreman is so nervous. Itīs clear that he somehow cheated, so he should be able to do that, again. Probably comes from the huge sum of money alone. As for how Kaijiīs plan is supposed to go along, I think he figured out the cheat-throw of the foreman and beats him with a "same"-throw. Well, cant wait for ep7.

Well one episode for two rounds of dice. I predict the foreman's two throws will take two episodes to get through.

    episode 7:

    http://www.nyaa.eu/?page=download&tid=214805

    EDIT:

Hm, I found this episode disappointed. It simply didnt emotionally grab me like the previous one. And too much of the happening only happens inside Ohtsukiīs mind. I realize that that was also the case when Kaiji fought the chairmanīs right hand in the card game in season 1. But there, it was always a good mixture of mind and loud talk. Here, Kaiji does nothing.

Also, that "one moment" during which noone pays attention, which allowed Kaiji to get ahold of the bowl was poorly executed. I would have expected this scene to make a real, big impact on the watching audience. But there was nothing special about that one moment, well except that Kaiji did indeed grab the bowl.

Oh well, Im sure next episode will be better.

yeah, great episode. though i thought kaijiīs snake eye-throw could have been presented in an even more dramatic way.

but are they going to do another episode about chichinchinro next week?
