Akira and his classmates are traveling on a plane when it crashes onto an island inhabited by species thought to have been extinct. The situation becomes increasingly desperate as some of Akira's classmates are eaten alive, while some kill others in desperation. Now Akira and a few other survivors are trying to survive what seems to be a horrible nightmare.

- The plot of thought of to be based on the novel "Lord of the Flies".

I have no idea why this series isn't being kept up, so I thought I'll bring it to everyone's attention (user Augury is the only person on here keeping up with it).

It's basically another High School of the Dead, except the zombies are now replaced by a mixture of extinct primitives (no dinosaurs [so far]) ranging from all the eras that eat the survivors, so it has the horror and apocalyptic feeling to it.

Yes, there is blood and violence in this. Oh, and people do die and there are murders on the island.

There's also tons of fan-service that somehow, I feel, fits into the overall the storyline. There's also a bit of romance here as well.

There's only one big continuity issue here in the manga so far, so I'll let you guys read and find out what that is.

For me, I read it not only because it's an exciting read, the mangaka keeps you on the edge because you have no idea what's going to happen because at any moment, any character will die, someone will snap and go crazy and the mangaka is very knowledgeable by acknowledging primitive animals I haven't heard of before (ie. andrewsarchus).

Chapters through 117 just got released. As far as manga go, this is one of the best accidental mysteries I've read in a long time. Sure the first 6 or so arcs are all about surviving the next thing thats going to eat half the new characters, but after a particularly climactic face off arc, the story tone suddenly shifted. Things (questions) the characters were hinting at, which felt like filler material toward the beginning, now are taking center stage and being explored thoroughly. I like that this series also isn't afraid to answer a mystery with another, bigger mystery; all while slowly and vaguely inking in the picture of whats going on. I dare say this series has approached the fabled 'maximum tension' once or twice. If you're willing to set aside your more anal scrutinies for plausibility, this can make a fine read.

Just a small update, but the latest chapter had a bit of a large twist, plus an announcement that the series will end in the next 3 chapters. So, if you like to be one of those people who "were there when it happened", get reading.

Well, its over... I didn't expect that ending... Overall, a fair, certainly readable work that, aside from the periodic interference of the ham-fister, flowed pretty smoothly and had enough non-obvious mystery to keep the suspense to a good level. Average to below-average art and chapters of varying density. Recommended.

As a rule, i never expects for these apocalyptic/survival series to have a great ending. The authors are usually trying to be way too clever with the plot and it usually requires several leap in logic to accept a proposed storyline.

It's pretty much what happened here. As long as i don't nitpick too much, i can accept the timeline presented in the last 2 chapters. This ending has a very cancelled vibe rather than an actual ending planned by the author, but he set the ending up with room for a sequel and there's certainly enough contents for it.

You're right.

Plenty of holes that didn't have any closure like what happened to Hades, Kouhei (Akira's mental friend), or what caused them to time leap, but overall, I pleasantly enjoyed the ending.
