I wonder if the old curse of shounen is going to haunt this battle as well. As long as it's only a few persons fighting, it's varied and characters use individual styles and techniques (and powers), but if it's a bigger group, it's just going to be running and mindlessly withing with fists, swords or guns. It looked a bit like that already but I hope they will really concentrate of individuals and give them time to be themselves, if that's appropriate in this war.

I hope Luffy manages to get there anywhere soon - if only to see how Hancock would react to seeing him.

I like it when that happens. Sure, real teamwork is great, but it almost never happens. It's either one on one battles, or a swirling melee where nobody bothers to use any of their cool powers. Or worse, it's an OP villain destroying everyone while they forget they even have powers.

So I accept a series of 1v1 battles being the next best thing.

Unless...you know...there's like 20 in a row...

There have been plenty of good team battles in One Piece, like several of the Baroque works matches in the Alabasta arc, or the strawhat crew vs Oz in the Thriller Bark arc.

I don't think I've ever even seen a Rear Admiral in the series. And honestly Smoker was the first time I'd seen a Commodore.

So...Smoker needs 3 promotions to make Admiral. Hmm, he better start catching them Supernovas.

So far the only people seen in One Piece to have held the rank of Rear Admiral are former Marine and current pirate X. Drake and an unnamed Rear Admiral who was in command of the battleships of Impel Down when they were after the Jailbreak League's battleship.

As for another Commodore, there was this guy from way back when
