I'd check this out but I'm not into period pieces. Even with the lovely Haruka Ayase in the cast, it's not worth it since she'll have to act according to her role, not with her usual endearing quirkiness. Plus the kimono and big hair hide her smokin' hot body and good looks.

I did not read the original manga, however I have heard that it was censored, or we would have seen Haruka Ayase's naked body.
That said, I think you would not be disappointed. It had top ratings when it aired in Japan, furthermore plenty of fans posted good remark on it.

Haruka Ayase's naked body?? Oh man, that would almost be too hot...
Japanese tend to like the period pieces and those dramas have decent viewership numbers. I still don't like them since I'm not that into Japanese history.
