As I understand it, this is simply a pitch to see if there's interest in making a movie:

Looks quite awesome, I hope someone picks it up and does it similar to what is being shown here.

looks interesting...but where was liu kang? you cant have MK without the dragon.
Really hope it gets picked up, but i dont like the "underground tournament" approach.....you cant leave behind the whole outworld storyline.
Seems like outworld is going to be included should the movie actually happen

The guy that made that short is going to be directing a 10 episode Mortal Kombat web series. Shooting will start next month.
Warner Premiere's 'Mortal Kombat' Tourney Goes Websides!
HOLY FIGHTING MONKEY BALLS BATMAN!
That is great fucking news.
That's pretty cool. Let's hope they give him a bigger budget so they can add special effects like energy blasts.
“For God will not permit that we shall know what is to come... those who by some sorcery or by some dream might come to pierce the veil that lies so darkly over all that is before them may serve by just that vision to cause that God should wrench the world from its heading and set it upon another course altogether and then where stands the sorcerer? Where the dreamer and his dream?”
Warner confirmed the web series today. They say it will be available this spring.

You cannot hope to build a better world without improving the individuals. To that end each of us must work for his own improvement, and at the same time share a general responsibility for all humanity, our particular duty being to aid those to whom we think we can be most useful. -Marie Curie
You are here alone again
In your sweet insanity
All too calm, you hide yourself from reality
Do you call it solitude? Do you call it liberty?
When all the world turns away to leave you lonely
Errr... i`m not sure how i feel about outworld being in this series, doesn`t seems to fit the realistic to an extent atmosphere they`re going for, unless of course, outworld is just a country/city/state/neighborhood/etc.

Mortal Kombat without the freezing blasts and lightning bolts would just be another martial arts movie. I don't think any of the characters have been officially developed to the point we care about them unless they are disemboweling opponents with fatality moves and energy attacks.
Thanks, that answered everything.Originally Posted by fireheart

I get the fatalities, but energy attacks? you`ll be dissapointed alright, perphaps you missed the whole thing? here, i`ll link it.
How many Characters did we saw? 6
Amount of "energy" attacks: 0, what makes you think Shang Tsung is just going to appear and start throwing fireballs?

No, the trailer was enjoyable, but I felt a certain "mortal-kombat-ness" was missing with just the martial arts. Raiden without lightning blasts and flying across the screen is impossible to imagine.
Regardless, the director plans to add energy attacks (in a natural, realistic way). The only reason he didn't in the trailer is because of budget. So his vision for the series is my vision.

So it WILL have supernatural elements? bleh

Wasn't the point of having Reptile being a guy with a genetic disease and Baraka having modified himself to keep put supernatural things like other worlds and energy blasts? I mean... if we are having them... why make Reptile and Baraka 'human' instead of 'alien' ?
Haha holy shit this looks like one of the worst movies ever made. The writing of a shoddy TV cop drama combined with the absurdity of superpowered harlequin fetuses. Plus they send a movie star undercover. This trailer was soundly rejected as an actual film proposal according to IMDB comments and you can see why.

The trailer had none of those, and it certainly worked.
