*sigh* You know, I've put up with a truly prodigious amount of gayness in One Piece recently.
But goddamnit, they better not ruin Sanji.
Just wait until Ivankov gives Luffy female hormones

i had been dreading this story ever since the cover with Sanji in a dress. i hate that i got a brief moment of "ok, it's for a fight" before they did.................that. I'm assuming his first view of a real woman will snap him out of it but I'm having a hard time keeping what happened at that island from ruining his character for me.
Sanji T_T
Oda is taking his characters in a bold new direction. Lets see where it goes.

Characters like Mr.3, or Ivankov are good in moderation. I wouldn't be able to tolerate them as members of the crew.
Rip- straight Sanji. First he wasn't able to attack ladies because he was cavalier, now he won't attack men because he is okama. How much of our Sanji will come back is mystery, if even our Sanji will come back.

Not what I'd call One Piece's strongest episode... The next one might be a bit better but I'm still only interested in seeing Zoro's development now that Nami has already been dealt with.
I'm actually interested to see for other characters how their trips will result in powerups.
Franky, Nami, and Sanji are very obvious. For the other's it's not clear yet how their predicaments are going to make them stronger(still hoping that Chopper studies the birds and creates a winged form for himself).
first half was Yew.
2nd half was cute.
I'm mostly interested in seeing what Zoro and Brook are doing.

Since Zoro is trapped with Perona, my first assumption is he learns how to cut the insubstantial ghosts. That would grant him a metaphysical cutting skill, allowing hitting various fruit users, just like Rayleigh can.
Now that you mentioned him, Brook's whereabouts certainly were interesting. I had forgotten all about him.Originally Posted by Penner
At first I thought "maybe Brook will learn some demonic magic" but then I remember that that cults magic technically doesn't work since they didn't really summon Brook.
There were also like 2 subtle haki references in Sanji's part of this. Not sure if anyone else caught em.
And right before that Sanji was surprised he couldn't hit that queen. That's clearly a nod to haki's ability to predict. I also think that Sanji referring to the eyes was a nod to haki, only since we've seen characters use haki and their eyes changing slightly. I think the anime does a better job of foreshadowing haki than the manga.
Lol you guys might be reading into it a bit too much.
There's no indication that Ivankov uses haki yet. I refuse to believe that anyone else can use haki until we at least see the Okama queen use it.

That's a nice catch. "You still have doubt in your heart". I thought the tranny was specifically referring to doubts about his sexual identity (not necessarily his sexuality though).
It would be pretty sweet if Sanji learns to release epic haki after finding and reinventing himself as a tranny. Maybe he'd even come to realize female villains are still villains. And the Sanji + Zoro interactions would reach a whole new level of funny. Sanji has always had a bit of a "dramatic" attitude with Zoro.
