Yeah, seems like maybe they should have done this Jirayia mourning into sage training thing before Sasuke went after the 8-tails, that way Naruto could have been training while the series was telling us about other stuff.

This training, in the manga, took place between scenes of Sasuke's battle with Killer Bee. Before and after.
So yes... you hit the nail.
Ah, I thought it seemed less rushed in the manga. So that's why.
Less rushed, but rushed nonetheless.
It's like the anime took it as a dare how the manga made Naruto a world class ninja in something like 5 chapters and then went the extra mile
