So yeah, emo jinchuuriki is emo and just begging for some Naruto befriending. I'm not particularly pleased that they seem intent to keep bringing back that grass whistle theme from the previous filler arc though.

Yeah, the dude is fast losing coolness points. It's kind of annoying everybody needs a tragic past in Naruto...

Why would you want to get attached anyway? Dead man walking, remember?

Since I force myself to watch these fillers in any case, it would be better if I found them remotely interesting, at least. Although that's not a requirement like the abysmal fillers between Naruto and Naruto Shippuuden proved.

I actually like the whole parley going on between the two groups of ninjas.

Sure, it's not exciting, but filler is usually taken up so much by everyone behaving as if they are Naruto. It's nice that Yamato has enough sense to be willing to negotiate, and for the villains to be willing to do the same.

And seeing villages work together is nice - we know they are at peace and hold things like the chunin exams jointly, but darn near every time we see someone from another village, its purely as an enemy.

not all the villages take part in Konoha's chuunin exam; if you noticed not ONE cloud ninja (and i can't remember if anyone from Pain's village was either) was at the one Team 7 took part in. so yes some do that jointly, but not all the villages are on good terms with each other.

And seeing different villages as opponents, politics can get messy so the line of "friend or foe" can be blurred at times. The only major village we know of that has an alliance with Konoha i believe as of right now is the Hidden Sand anyway.

Pain's village was definitely in the Chuunin exam. The team with the gas masks and the guy that says "Lucky" were from the Hidden Rain.

The Chuunin exam villages were Leaf, Sand, Grass, Rain, Waterfall and Sound.

So, Konoha's ally the Sand, and then all the smaller villages that border Konoha.

There were no Cloud, Stone or Mist ninjas in the Chuunin exam.
