    Darker than BLACK - Gaiden

    Stumbled across that by accident! Do not read for fear of spoilers but still anyone know if that is being subbed by a group?

    Ah thanks for that Pandadice. I had completely forgotten about the OVA until I stumbled across it today.

    Cheers

    Yin = Win.

    This is the Darker than Black sequel that I have been waiting for.

    Episode content:

    I love Yin. She is so cute, especially with the longer hair, the hat and the dress. She did look frail, and I can perfectly understand why Hei is so protective of her. Her fits of jealousy, disobedience (free will) and anxiety of the possibility of being abandoned humanized her so much, even with the emotionless face. Her concern for Hei and how she ordered enough food for 10 people so that Hei can recuperate really made me want to go and hug her like Hei did.

    I definitely missed Lee's acting. It was always impressive how the cold stoic Hei could suddenly transform into a blushing naive guy, and this episode kind of portrayed the two extremes in such close proximity that the gap was emphasized. Maybe it was also the sheer lack of this dichotomy in the DTB S2 catastrophe.

    The relationship between them has grown so much, and it provides the background story why Hei was so obsessed with Yin in Gemini. I could almost never imagine Hei ever saying the lines that spilled out when he reunited with Yin after the kidnapping. It seems that it was not only the doll who evolved and developed, or in Hei's case regained humanity.

    The action in this episode was amazing. It is just too bad that most of it was spoiled with the trailer. I really missed how Hei electrocuted people while grabbing them by the head. It really made me happy seeing the real BK-201, like the one in the manga.

    If you guys liked this episode as much as I did, I recommend reading the DTB - Shikkoku no Hana manga. It is a direct sequel of the anime series, and is probably set between the 1st season and these OAVs. Same action, same intriguing story, same loli overload, and thankfully the same Black Reaper.

    Ah, in that case, that's a must read.

    Otherwise, Shinta pretty much said everything I would have said.

    The preview hints that these OVAs may feature a Yin Costume Showcase, which is very, very welcome.

    Meh, it was alright

    The second season sucked so hard that i'm having trouble getting back into the right mood of things, but hopefully a couple more of these will turn that around for me
