Anyone playing this? It's made by the same team that produced DotA back in the day which was a mod for WC3. This is a standalone game however, and it's free. That's right, free! It's also similar gameplay style to Demigod, but I'm not sure how many people actually played that.
For the uninitiated, you have a hero, you're on a team of 5 allied heroes and you're facing a team of 5 opposing heroes. Each team has a base on opposite sides of the map with towers in between them. The objective is to slowly make your way to the opponent's base and destroy it, having to get through enemy heroes and towers on the way. There are AI controlled minions that are constantly streaming from each base and clashing to form battles which you join as your hero. As you kill minions, enemy heroes and destroy enemy towers you gain gold which you use to buy items. Pretty simple eh.
There are around 40 heroes to choose from, and for those who used to play DotA but didn't like the various imbalances involved, LoL is a major step in the right direction and has the balance pretty well down.
As you continue to play you gain points which allows you to unlock other things in the game, like runes which give you added bonuses as well as some other stuff. It has a pretty good leveling system and I find that the game matchmaker usually gets it right for putting inexperienced players against others of the same level.
