Lol, so waiting for Frostii means waiting for an incomplete episode... I can't wait to hear the rebuttals for this little revelation from the Frostii purists among us.

Anyway, Seiji's creepiness this episode surpassed my wildest imaginings. But what interested me most was what circumstances might have elicited Celty-head being in love with Creepy Seiji and apparently afraid of Celty-body. It seems like she might not have any memories after all.

It does seem like Celty-head did not have memories of the time when she was a Dullahan. She seemed like she was afraid of something intangible, and quite paranoid. Maybe having been split in two, both sections lost their memories and are essentially incomplete.

I guess it is more difficult for Celty-head to adjust to the situation because she seemed to be asleep the entire time she was a head. Having woken up looking quite normal (except for the neck scar), I guess she may not see herself like how Celty-body sees herself - as something supernatural.

However, it is also possible that she was awake during that time, and heard all of Seiji's ramblings which caused her to fall for him.

I hate Seiji now. I used to not care about him at all, but now he just seems freaking psycho in a very pathetic sense. I also find that I dislike Celty-head for loving this weirdo. I hope her "personality" disappears and gets overwritten by Celty-body's before the show ends. Seiji dying is also a preferred story path for me.

I guess that Celty's head and body are two entities that developped separate spirits/behavior/personalities.
It has only been possible because they were separated for a very long time

Celty said she felt incomplete (not just because she has no head), that there are situations, feelings and many other things a normal human being would feel/experience she can not access.

Regarding the head, I think it was asleep for too long and didn't have as much time as the body to develop its own personality. Explaining why it acts a bit strange like a child in most cases.

    Now the problem is:
What did they do with the head of the dead stalker...? they even named her (but I can't remember).
Can they just behead that composed body to reunite Celty's head and body?
Would that mean the stalker dies twice?
Suppose the remaining head isn't dead, can Celty use it?
Is Seji really the killer, or was he there at the right (bad) time? I guess he is, but who knows...

behead, head swap, head loss, split personalities, I kinda have a headache now

Indeed, but I was even more impressed by Namie's totally insane and hypocritical philosophies. She can acknowledge that her uncle gave her dolls for his own sake, but not that she did the same for Seiji. I dunno what it is, but I can at least understand that Seiji is just another stupid kid who thinks that the only thing in the world that matters are his feelings, and that he can't even react to another human being well enough to ever care for one... I almost feel bad for him, but I do hope he doesn't make it.

Also, Izaya has got to be the most fucked up, interesting character in this whole show. I seriously believe he really doesn't think he's human, and his insane outburst at the end of this episode was almost as unnerving as it was entertaining. Izaya is as smart as he is malicious as he is crazy, and I love a bad guy who is smart.

They really do need to explain what kind of state Selty's head was in when it was in the jar. It seemed to me almost like Head didn't want to go back to the Body because she recognized that it was Body, and that's the whole unanswered question of what the fuck happened to get them separated in the first place (or second place, I suppose, since the Dullahan's head is 'normally' detached...)

I wouldn't be surprised if Head did somehow pick up on some of Seiji's affection for her. But i also can't help but dislike her for caring for a complete fuck like Seiji.

The weird thing is that the head was always separate from the body... that's what a Dullahan does. But I think it's got to go back to what caused Body to wake up in the graveyard and have no memories

And, because they keep name-dropping it, this has got to get down to Nebula.

And, because I have to throw out a theory every episode, my guess is that Nebula is going to take over the company once they can get Body AND Head as a subject, and that Izaya is going to be the one to give Nebula the chance, and that he might even be a member.

    I wasn't precise enough.
When I meant separate, I meant it in distance and no contact at all.

Or maybe the separation is a more supernatural one, with what essentially connects the two parts being severed by some unknown factor, thus causing the memory loss.

    well hell

i'd be lying if i said i saw that coming.

Ryuugamine couldn't have intended to have Selty snap like that, right? i mean, the whole big glorious moment just went down the tubes when it happened. the only one who i think might be enjoying it would be Izaya...

the cameo was a little long for my tastes (this whole episode felt stretched out to me), and it doesn't help that those two were among my least favorite Baccano! characters...

i am still supremely confused about so much in this series, and i really hope they can tie up all the loose ends. but i still really like this show.

What a great episode. There were a lot of stuff that were revealed and it was only enough to keep you wanting for more. I understand how hard is it for Selty, having someone else holding her very life. But now its exaclty what shinra is doing to Celty by not telling her about the whereabouts of the head. Its probably best for Shinra because Celty would leave him as soon as she finds her head. And as expected Izaya has something to do with it all. Awesome mid season plot point.

    Thanks shinta|hikari for the sig.

Shinra has hardly any control over Celty's life (mortality). She herself said that her body cannot die. The only reason she is with Shinra is because she wants to be with him. She even tried to say so when Shinra pointed out that regaining her head might cause her to leave his side regardless of her will.

There is no proof that Celty would leave him even if she does obtain her missing part, just like there is no proof that Celty's life can be extinguished by doing something to her head. They themselves admitted that their fears are born from their own baseless theories.

I do agree though that this is an awesome mid season episode, especially with the fast forwarded events featuring Ryugamine and glasses girl, and how Celty opened her arms in joy upon reaffirming her existence.

this show is doing well, and it was a pretty full (overly so?) episode.

i was totally not expecting the twist with the Stalker girl still being alive and, as much as I still hate Yagiri Seiji and his sister, I'm pretty content with the temporary conclusion that they gave those two

was wondering how they'd bring the Chatters from the Dollars board come back into play, and thought it was really very interesting that Mikado, Selty, and Izaya were the three we'd been hearing from all along.

and, of course, Izaya. can't say his insane plans come as a surprise, they've totally built him up as this kind of character, but it was still interesting because i was almost ready to write him off as a slightly deranged good guy after he helped Mikado and then just let him go

Shinra is such a bastard, but i can't help but feel for him. the selfish stuff he was spouting out to Selty was oddly endearing

For a good portion of the episode I thought Anri was the slasher. If she's not the slasher, then I wonder what alter ego she has.

    Selty is <3

so, well, it was a great episode, i thought. picked up right where we left off and

was pretty surprised that Simon knew about Izaya having the head (at least that's what i thought he was referring to). that guy is one of the few people who doesn't have a clearly defined side in this whole show.

speaking of Izaya, now that he's taken Season 1's antagonist under his wing, i think it's safe to say he's got dibs on the Big Bad role for this show.

new characters in the OP unsettled me quite a bit, but i was pleased how they introduced many of them so quickly in this episode. i loved the bit with the motorcycle cop and how he actually managed to freak out Celty. can't help but think that what Izaya said in episode 12 (about male Dullahans) when I think about this guy, but it just might be the motorcycle thing... Shinra's father is a good "eccentric scientist guy" and, of course, Tom isn't really a brand new character or anything...

the writing's been on the wall before, but this episode was the strongest at hinting that Anri is the Slasher and that Kida was involved in the Yellows before ryugamine came to town (it was just about flat out said this episode, and that's got to link up with the hospitalized woman and his connection with Izaya), and i feel those storylines are going to be crucial now that Ryugamine = Dollars has come to a full fruition.

also, ever since the identities of the online chatters came out in episode 12, i feel like everytime they speak i need to kick myself for not noticing beforehand how similar the voices are... could really hear Izaya's malicious needling and Celty's cute overreactions in this episode...

don't like either the new ED or new OP compared to the first ones... (but interesting to see that the girl from episode 2 appears, linked with Izaya even.... guess that doesn't mean the Yagiri/Izaya villain love is ever going to come to much...)

Anyone still waiting for Frostii's subs?

10 and 11 are out now (HD links).
