By the way, what difficulty are you guys playing at?
I'm only at normal and i still get my ass kicked on a regular basis

I play at Normal, but there are still a couple fights I still have problems with and have to drop it down to easy or play so conservatively I feel like I am cheating (like luring a boss halfway down a tunnel).
It took me a while to realize I need to use strategy again in a game and to get a handle on the nuances of the combat system. I have found that trying something completely different will often change the tide of battle completely.
You get ambushed so much in the game that alpha strikes are usually impossible against anything but darkspawn (one thing Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights let you do was attack before forces became hostile). But, you can still use all of your resources. Don't forget crafting and salves, poison, and traps. They can make a hard battle a piece of cake.
first time on normal(rogue), second time on hard(tank) and now on nightmare(rogue)
this time, I might get serious problems because I killed wynne :/ (no second mage/healer)
btw here's the video

Normal, and i killed Wynne aswell :P, i don't have any healer except potions, it has worked pretty well so far.
I also find myself having my Arcane Warrior main on auto, and most of the time im just controlling Morrigan for CC purposes and whatnot.

Between this game and FFXIII, which would you say is more worth playing? School starts up in 2 weeks, so I only have time to play one or the other.
“For God will not permit that we shall know what is to come... those who by some sorcery or by some dream might come to pierce the veil that lies so darkly over all that is before them may serve by just that vision to cause that God should wrench the world from its heading and set it upon another course altogether and then where stands the sorcerer? Where the dreamer and his dream?”
Pretty awesome.Originally Posted by KrayZ33
One question though? I see you fighting a Revenant, but you aren't taking any damage from its miasma. Did you use a spell like Cleanse Area or something to negate it?
hmmm no but since when do they have something like that?
they seem to have a cleave attack which hits nearby targets (360°... which is why I send morrigan a few meters away from him) but thats pretty much everything .... and some grip which will draw you into melee range.
hmmm, and the Curse makes him miss with every swing.
maybe it's because it's not a "normal" revenant
the revenants from the vials seem to be much stronger (I barely manage to hit them and they are crit-immune)
this one is part of the juggernaut-armor quest.

Revenants do constant damage to you when you're close by them. It's even in the codex.
never have suffered dmg when standing around him... at least not in intervals
my party suffers heavy dmg now then while standing directly beside or behind him, which is why I thought it's something like a Whirlwind-attack
Hard to say. As far as western RPG go Dragon Age is among the best. I've never played FF13 but from the various gameplay trailer it seem to be a solid JRPG so i suppose it would be up to your personal preference.Originally Posted by Animeniax

I started doing this quest to find the werewolves that were infecting the Darvish Elves.... and 2-3 hours into these ruins... i'm completely battered! got ambushed so many times by huge mobs, and i continued 3-4 times against this random dragon that I couldn't kill before using a single party member to kinda sneak across the room, and take 20g and a couple other good items from the "dragons hoard"
another hour or so into the dungeon, all charactors w\ at least 2 forms of injury and no potions I decided I had to go get supplies!
I dunno how you could play on hard or nightmare... Normal difficulty is pretty hard as it is, but the game is getting pretty fun.
Yah i remember that dragon, it took me 3 tries to get that sucker down, you really do have to play tactically in some fights, which is great since it differs from most action/rpg games I've played in quite a while.
Does anyone know what happens after u finish the game? Not story wise but I mean does it offer some after-game dungeon/challenge or something? I'm just curious, if i should start a new character right away after its finished or not ^^

you can walk around and do DLC content-stuff
which is pretty much... well, nothing

Or do the intelligent thing and start a new game with a new character amirite?
How strongly to character classes and races affect the overall story?
zero
which sounds harsher than it is, actually
only reactions towards you and the decisions you are able to make will be different

It's not totally zero.
Classes and races affect some dialogue and dialogue choices, and there's more detail in certain storylines because of what you are, who you are. Overall, aside from the feeling and the prologue story, they don't affect too much.
Dwarves and elves will be discriminated against, or discriminate against you if you are human in their areas. Females will sometimes get flak from others, but most people won't really care, since it explains in the Codex that Ferelden is pretty much a gender neutral nation. Arls and Arlessas both have the same level of influence, men and women both fight in armies, etc.
As for classes, mages get a lot of respect because magic is dangerous and highly feared. I've had low strength and was still able to Intimidate because I was a mage.
Race doesn't affect the game itself too much, except that dwarves can't use lyrium veins at all, also explained in the codex somewhere. To make up for it, they have high resistance to magic. Enemies that use magic heavily are in areas that veins tend to pop up the most anyway.
expansion

uh-yeah!
Bloody hell that was fast!
Rivers of money have a way to make these things speed up, just look at World of Warcraft
Not that fast. The PC version of Dragon Age was technically ready to go gold back in March of last year. EA made Bioware delay the PC version so that the two ports for the consoles could be released on the same day.
The expansion, when released, will have been in development for a full year. Expansions were planned from the start of development on the game.
I just hope they add even more easter eggs
"My Warden sense is tingling"
btw I didn't know about expansions
they said it's going to be a Trilogy with Dragon Age 1, Dragon Age 2 (new graphics etc), Dragon Age 3 (again new graphics etc)
I hope they add a new class with new tactics and gamestyle or something, if not, it's nothing more than a mission-pack
