-san's the most generic Japanese honorific there is. It barely indicates any relationship between the speaker and the listener, besides that the speaker likely doesn't know the listener well enough to call them by a different honorific, if at all. It doesn't mean "older guy".Originally Posted by DarthEnder

Yes, because pervy sage sounds so much better than ero sennin amirite?Originally Posted by DarthEnder

As long as it gets the correct meaning across (which it does), it doesn't matter. I'm sure none of us need the subs to confirm what "Ero Sennin" means when we hear it. As long as the meaning is translated correctly then it's fine.

what? That I disagree with. I really don't see the problem with the translation, where I grew up adding boy to someone's name (...) was actually pretty common
"Sebastian-boy" "Mike-boy" "Kevin-boy"
I don't believe you...why would someone call you like that.

Think of it as a shortened version of "Kevin, my boy"Originally Posted by KrayZ33

It doesn't sound nearly as strange when everyone does it. Plus I was a kid back then and I didn't realize how strange it was until I started traveling and started getting strange looks. That is nothing compared to some of other things I've heard though, I still laugh when I hear a heavy Trinidadian accent.Originally Posted by KrayZ33

Sapphire is awesome!
iirc the manga had it Jiraiya-boy as well <.<. it sounded fine to me. i mean, i don't think i really hear it commonly irl, but i have heard it before.. adding "-boy" to one's name.
it does seem kinda ridiculous to bother translating it if you're just gonna change it from -chan to -boy, it like whats the point? but i'd rather they do that than leave it out entirely. and having that at the end sounds so much better than say "lil jiraiya" would, imo. though i usually don't even pay attention to subs when people say names anyways, because my ears pick up the name and honorific, so i usually skim over the name in the subs (causing me to usually misspell/not know how to spell names xD).
but man! this episodes was amazing! the fights were so awesome!
can jiraiya really use shadow clones so effectively? i didn't think Kakashi could really even use shadow clones. and i know jiraiya is on a higher level than him, but still, he was flipping out not just like clones, but shadow clones everywhere. anyways, it made for an intense fight.

The only problem I had was how he can somehow form shadow clones without seals. Oro couldn't do squat when the Third screwed up his arms, but Jiraiya's clapping his feat and popping out shadow clones like it's nothing.
That's cool, I'm sure, but I could do with an explanation.
Come to think of it, it's not the first time they've stopped animating seals. Raikiri used to require one too. Now they get used on the fly.

I believe Abdula. I remember when I was a kid and read Garfield comics, whenever Jon would visit his farmer parents his dad called him Jon-boy. And I know I've heard that at least one other place on television also. I think one of those old western television shows like Bonanza. It damn sure does if you don't understand Japanese.Originally Posted by Archangel

I just always assumed if you master the jutsu you dont need the seals. Cause the seals do what release something? Eventually youre so badass you release it with just your will....just... your...will.
Kishimoto changed his mind about how Raikiri works when he introduced the Rasengan.Originally Posted by Buffalobiian

yeah, which is way the sharingan, and being able to break down what seals they're doing, is a valuable thingOriginally Posted by poopdeville

Yeah, they did that in the Kakuzu fight too. They never showed Kakuzu using seals, but then Kakashi said he was reading them, even though he was doing them too fast for people without Sharingan to see it.
Lets just assume Jiraiya master the technique of using feet seal.Originally Posted by Buffalobiian
But it's generally a good rule of thumb to not take any established "law" in naruto seriously, Kishi sure as hell doesn't.
After ignoring most of these, i find it much easier to enjoy the show now.

Yeah. The whole idea of teaching Rasengan to Naruto was because he was too dumb to use seals, and it's mega-fast to use.Originally Posted by poopdeville
Now everything is like that. Pump chakra in, and walla, ninja technique.

To be fair, for a manga, drawing handseals this late in the series is probably just a huge waste of space. It should be implied to take place between panels by now.Originally Posted by Dark Dragon
Of course the animators aren't smart enough to know that and fill in whats supposed to take place "between panels".
Something strange I noticed, Pain does not use blood to summon his summons, they just randomly appear at the location he wants. In part one and recently when Suigetsu summoned Manda it was said you need your blood to summon something.
I have the feeling Pain will be perfect at everything, summons, elemental jutsus, eye jutsus etc. He will be very balanced, till now all the akatsuki members have been one trick ponies with the exception of Kakuzu.
Madara will be very strong but I doubt he’ll be much different from Itachi in terms of the arsenal both possess.
Sure he will. He's a lot older than Itachi and probably also better connected and travelled. He has had plenty of time to steal new jutsu with his sharingan and perfect them as much as he wanted. The way he sneaked around as Tobi proves he's not satisfied with sitting around on his throne blindly trusting in his existing powers to conquer all.Originally Posted by antiravage
