My fantasies got the best of me

after re-rewatching it, I just misinterpreted the past tense they use when speaking about how Sawako was already in Love in the classroom when she spoke about her feelings for Kazehaya.

In fact they are only remembering when Sawako first shared her feelings with Yano and Chizu...

I misunderstood that as the first time she told Kazehaya (and the whole classroom) that she loves him... then my fantasies created a story around that.

Nice ep, maybe lacking a tad stress now that the rivalry is clear.

I was sure, from last ep or before that Sawako would be pleased to have someone seeing her as a worthy opponent.

    yet another awesome episode

well to quote Chizu "If she had been like that all along, I don't think I would have minded her" (er, not sure if that's enirely accurate, but whatever <.<). I think that pretty much sums up the way this ep made me look at Kurumi.

I like Ume now that I know why she was acting that way. Not everyone can be the heroine, or be strong enough to be as honest as Sawako. Indeed, when it comes to her feelings for Kazehaya, Ume does indeed trump every girl out there, including Sawako. It is just unfortunate that such strong feelings along with her other negative experiences caused her to act the way she did.

Of course this does not excuse her actions, but it does make them understandable. It is quite common for a person to hurt other people the same way they are hurt before, mostly in fear of further emotional damage. No one wants to be a loser, and that is what Ume was viewed like (at least the part she overheard) in the past.

I definitely like Ume's bratty, selfish, and sharp personality, maybe even more than Sawako's innocent appeal. Ume's true self is just too cute, mainly because she was probably nice in the first place, but only got twisted as time went on.

The preview is frighteningly looking like a recap episode ...

Indeed, and well said, but Sawako's honesty is too refreshing to eclipse with Kurumi's brash true self (also refreshing in its own way).

Kurumi tried to be nice and popular with everyone in the past, and she got burned for it. I imagine this could create further strife with Sawako because it is basically the same thing she does now that Kazehaya, Yano and Chizu got her to socialize, and she's moved up several places in such a short time. Most went from Sawako being some evil entity to viewing her as a helpful spirit. Kurumi went the other way, everyone thought she was a scheming evil bitch.

    So...she became one.

Gotta hand it to Kurumi though, after all she's been through, she managed to adapt and became the Evil Queen she is now.

    Thanks shinta|hikari for the sig.

It indeed did. A very quick watch because there was nothing worth watching. I tried to watch a few of those tiny geezer scenes but even they were boring. Complete waste of time and bandwidth.

A bloody awesome episode after last week's wasted recap. It's a small mystery as well how those spooky Sawako scenes aren't getting old at all despite the fact for most of the series we have been seeing her as a pretty bright and genuinely friendly person. Yet the video rental place scene worked exquisitely. Though of course it's partly due to Pin's rather simple nature as well.

Kazehaya also surprised me nicely by actually trying to kiss Sawako after she followed Pin's advice (Pin really did learn something from his "research", it seems). Anybody who didn't foresee it failing is not worth his bytes but it was made all the better because of it. This is, probably, the kind of a show where the relationship will progress step by step in a due order.

I'm having hard time explaining Sawako's nature with her home environment, especially with such a normal mom, but I suppose her dad is just a bit pecualiar explaining something.

I got another massive dose of happiness and warm feelings from that ep.
They are very good at creating the right atmosphere to convey that much, at least it works for me and I love that.

Really, more shows of that quality would be Gosend to me, to balance out the huge majority of violence/power centered shows (tv shows+movies+anime... media in general)

There was a line where Sawako was listening to Yano and Chizu talk about how a frilly miniskirt wouldn't look good on Chizu, and Sawako described it as a conversation between maidens (otome). The funny part for me was that there were certainly two otome on that bench, but the conversation wasn't happening between the two of them!

Poor Yano getting slapped like that. She's still so cool. I liked the way her hair looked when they were all shocked by the bandage on her face. It wasn't as poofy as it usually is, it looked sleeker and more mature.

I had a mouth full to discuss on this episode ranging for "awwww" to "yaaay", but then the preview came and surprised all other thoughts out of me. The 2 brother don't look ANYTHING alike!

I'm not the biggest authority on these things but ( see if you can back me up on this Ryll ) the guy on the preview looks exactly like a textbook shoujo bishounen.

If Chizuru ever does choose Ryu over him it will be yet another victory of kimi over traditional shoujo archetypes!

I guess it's a nobrainer that the brother has already someone else, and that's what Ryu finds so hard to tell?

It was quite an interesting episode, and I don't mind the development mainly avoided Swako/Kazehaya this time. Those others are already so established that learning about them is just as interesting.

Ryuu is in a bit of a rut. He can't tell Chizu about his brother because he also has feelings for her, and also cares about her a lot to not want her to get hurt from what he says. Still, if the two meet without Ryuu informing Chizu, Chizu will end up getting hurt even more.

While he does look like the standard bishonen, Chizu ultimately picking Ryu over his brother would be pretty standard as far as shoujo series go. There is always the suave, more attractive male, and the other one the lead eventually goes for who she initially disliked or didn't like as much. The more bishonen one (face it, they're always both bishonen) oftentimes is actually an asshole or has some other flaw.

That's not what I had figured. I took it that he didn't want to tell Chizu because she would get all excited. Who would really want to tell someone they like that the person they really like is coming a lot sooner than she thought they would?

I agree with Kraco though. It really seemed like he was going to deliver some bad news to Chizu, and with all the talk about her liking the brother, it is most likely that the brother will get married in the near future.

"Most likely getting married," seems to be a strong assertion for not having even seen the brother outside of the preview for next week. We're not even sure how much older he is, it seems to me that he is only a few years older, college age at most. Certainly more than two, since Chizu mentioned that he hadn't seen her as a high school girl. They're second years, so if she hadn't seen him for a year she would have entered high school right after that. It doesn't seem like it can be too much more than a couple years.

I took Ryu's reaction simply as surprise that his brother is suddenly showing up right after he became a topic again. Chizu realized she wanted him to see her more grown up (and shopping for the miniskirt). Ryu recognized this as her excitement towards seeing his brother again. Then right after he calls. Of course Ryu would be a bit taken aback, he's hoping Chizu forgets about his brother and turns her attention toward him. His brother is showing up right when Chizu is thinking about him the most. That sets off all kinds of 'fateful reunion' flags.

While it isn't uncommon in shoujo for an older love interest to suddenly be engaged upon some manner of reunion, wouldn't it be more likely that he just has a girlfriend and not a fiancée? "Most likely getting married," sounds like a bit of a logical stretch to me.
