Strong words against Nymph. I don't dislike her quite as much as I dislike Sohara but I can certainly see where Ryllharu's coming from, she's a grotsky little biotch for sure.

I did manage to have a little sympathy for Sohara for once though. At first I thought she just wanted to 'correct' Tomo to make him more appropritate for her feelings but this episode made it seem like she has a general big sister complex. I'm guessing she gets off on being the 'mature' one and having others dependent on her somehow. I can't really fault her for that mentality as she may simply want to feel needed or important. I can empathize with her being marginalized by the Angelroids as well as Tomo's indifference to her, but I'd rather she just recognized that he wasn't into her and moved on.

Nymph's comments about Ikaros were quite interesting though, apparently she 'ruled over the Synapse' at some point in the past. My snap theory is that she wasn't a literal leader but the head enforcer/strongest loyal angelroid to whoever was in charge. Perhaps Nymph is working for someone who wants to or has upset the power balance wherever Angelroids come from and is there to make sure Ikaros stays out of their way.

Short notes:

- Mikako is sexy.
- Sohara is perverted too, she just doesn't want to admit it. And has strange tastes in what a trip is like (1880s?).
- Mikako and Sugata's gun-kata was funny.
- Ikaros + Chaingun = excessive quantities of win


Fun stuff aside, lots of interesting stuff here. It wasn't clear whether or not Ikaros was used as a slayer before or after she shook Synapse to its core, but at one point she was all powerful, and then became a slave to a man/angel who hates humans, same as Nymph does. Then they locked her down completely, and she escaped to the lower world. What is clear is that even with everything she knows now, Ikaros is much happier here. She gets to live a peaceful life of not killing anyone, Tomoki might be perverted, but he cares for her and thinks of her as a girl, rather than using her like an empty doll for petty whims (well, he did, but he got over that in the first episode).

It's important to note that Ikaros really must have changed from when she was a Queen of Terror, because though she threatened to kill Nymph if she wouldn't leave peacefully, and would kill herself in the process rather than let anyone in the town come to harm. Even then, she didn't want to hurt Nymph.

As for Nymph, she certainly shares her Master's hate for humankind, looking down on them like bugs like some revolting angelic nobility. No surprise that getting covered in dirt is what she hates the most.

Episode 6 was out of sync by Quality... and they seemed to have skipped episode 7 since they went directly to episode 7... which group do you guys recommend to follow this series? And to replace the episodes I have too...

Did they ever stop spelling "Ikaros" as "Icarus" after her name appeared written in English at least twice? That was a really bad translation error, especially given that the manga has been out since 2007, and the spelling of the names fairly established.

No, but seeing as all other aspects are superior to horrible subs i don't see how you could even begin to consider them as an archiving choice

Episode 6. 17:52 of Horrible Subs. Right there on his computer screen. It's not like it is another simple butchering of romanization either, all the characters clearly pronounce the "osu" at the end of her name.

Ikaros wrote her name using four kanji 「威伽露主」 that read I-KA-RO-SU, but made it needlessly complicated.

One would imagine that if it was "Icarus" it would be I-KA-RA-SU.

well, considering MX Media did the subs for it, and everything they sub in the show has to get run through the original Japanese studios for confirmation/changing, if it appears as "Ikaros" in the Horriblesubs release, then the Japanese studios want it to be Ikaros.

To answer Arch's question, is Horrible worth archiving? Not really, but neither is a group that won't even get the names right.

It's just that if even after two separate scenes where her name is spelled out in both unnecessarily complicated kanji as well as quite plainly in roman letters, and the group still doesn't change it, then what else might be inaccurate?

MX Media's occasional cheesy localization American phrases (that definitely don't fit) are kind of funny too. Like the charm of watching older ADV and Manga Entertainment dvds.

if you want people to take your releases seriously then you've got to mind your ps and qs. It's just when Neko-mimi is CR rips with "corrected" subs, and their subs are in fact wrong and misleading, then what else are they "correcting"? you're better off with the official release at that point :\

but don't get me wrong, if any actual fansub group released this show, I would wait for them over horriblesubs.

Just watched episode 8: Best... episode... ever

We had action, drama, plot development, tits, comedy, character development... everything was just awesome

And and we apparently got rid on Nymph too, this ep was full of win

Hope we get a sequel because i don't see them reaching any sort of conclusion in just these 4 episodes, not anything that isn't rushed anyway

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the difference is between the latin or greek form of the same name, isn't it?

It would only affect background info, some cultural values or possibly future developements if that should matter in that show.

Well this is what you get when they don't give a show enough episodes, the tsundere goes dere dere way too soon before the main character even has a chance to show his stuff

Same deal with Ikarus' now obvious crush, i'm sure that in the manga/novel/whatever Tomoki earned that much more than he did here

Anyway, even with these sudden developments the humor is great and the characters are likable not to mention that the more serious aspect is ( so far ) adding up nicely to the nonsense that we used to call a plot

As much as I don't want to admit it, they made me feel bad for Nymph. That scene with the bird was seriously screwed up. Worst of all, she thanks them for it. It's also pretty obvious why Ikaros hates Synapse so much, and why they probably fear her. So Nymph crying when Tomo was nice to her was equally moving. The single, tip of the tongue lick too, like she was so unsure whether it would poison her or not.

As for Ikaros' song, we've heard Hayami Saori sing before in a couple of series (OP to Sekirei, all throughout Basquash), but this one wasn't really my favorite. She is able to hit some really full sounding lower notes as far as most j-pop scales cover, and "fallen down" didn't have any of those. I was a bit disappointed that they didn't take the opportunity to exploit her vocal range, but otherwise it was a good song with a nice presentation to go along with it.

Of course, lest I forget, the Nipple song...ugh.

Is Kotobuki Minako already typecast into all the rich girl roles? K-ON, the other teleporter in Railgun, and now here too. Every time there seems to be a nameless rich girl, she's there voicing them.
