This show looked "okay".
Nothing spectacular, but nothing I'd be turned off by. It's coming off as pretty staple Shounen stuff. I guess I'll follow.
HorribleSubs could do with more colour saturation. It looks washed out.

If it's not Isuzu-chan Mii~
Just got around to watching the first ep and i liked it, decent amount of action and humour blended, definately gonna follow this.
And im loving the medieval/folk type music.

What now? I prefer their raw, but as translations go i'm more of a fan of Mamiko's style
Well yeah the verdict is out on the animation, and god does it suck...
The soundtrack is still cool and all but i can't help but feel they're rushing it a bit with 2 chapters consisting of 79 pages total in just 1 episode...
Sometimes the animation reminds me of shows ten or fifteen years old. Plus the magic circles are really starting to bother me.
But I guess I'll keep watching. For the sake of Mirajane's cuteness.
I have no problems at all with the animation and the music is sweeeet, plus i'm loving the comedy... this show seems to be more comedy than action(so far atleast), wich is totally fine by me ^_^

Then I shall be one of the pioneers of the new fan-sub standard known as Horrible Subs.
My verdict on this is the same as last episode. Nothing amazing. Nothing horrendous. Fairly enjoyable.
I've gotten used to the VAs now too. I never had an issue with Happy's voice, but I had imagined Natsu to sound more child-like with a higher voice.

The Fairy Tails manga didn't start out too hot either, it was one of those series that get better as it progresses.
I hope the animation quality does too, but it sort of seems like they are half-assing it because of the similarity to One Piece's simplistic style.Originally Posted by Dark Dragon
I take back what I've said before, Hirano is a great Lucy.
The first half of this episode was pretty terrible, but the second half was very enjoyable. Lots of good humor and decent action. I'm glad they didn't continue with Natsu summoning an imaginary dragon every time he used a strong attack. It wasn't a very serious fight, so seeing it again may still be a possibility, but a positive change for now.
I am surprised they did such a bad job at animating this. The effects are cheap looking yet exaggerated, and the character animation is inconsistent. While Hirano turned out a lot better than I imagined as Lucy, Happy just sounded wrong. I always imagined (and liked) Happy having a rough voice like a pirate with his usual "Aye" and all, but it was replaced by kiddy squealing.
I was only intending to watch this to see Erza animated, but at this rate, it will only tarnish the image of her in my mind. This series is therefore dropped.
Peace.
Yeah i usually don't care too much about animation, but this was just terrible.Originally Posted by Ryllharu
This series definitely deserve better treatment or we'll just get another Rave Master.
edit: On second thought, there are too many shows that started out with great animation then crap out near the end because they ran out of budget. I'm hoping this is the opposite and they are just saving the great animation for some of the later fights.
I just hope they stop being so flashy....its not friggin sailor moon. Stick to the story, and keep it a little rough around the edges. It needs more grit.
Other then that, im looking forward to this one...the manga is one of my fav's and i've always been a fan of the magic/fantasy genre.
It's sad but i have like 0 motivation to download this ep
I guess i'll wait for Taka, that should make the animation somewhat more bearable
There certainly were some animation issues (that no release will solve) but otherwise I liked the episode. It had good humour and seemed to flow a bit better than the earlier ones, possibly because of less introduction elements and such. Also, they had scaled down a bit the magic circles for the more basic moves, which is a huge plus for me.
I still don't really know what to think of Natsu's VA. He sounds all the time somehow more calm and orderly than I ever pictured him in my mind, but sometimes that actually creates a funny, kind of dry British humour effect.
