I don't really recall Natsu's VA from anything else but Gurren Lagann and Minami-ke, but he aced those roles so I don't see why he wouldn't Natsu's as well, as different a role as it is. I wish the ANN VA list sported more names, though. The story has quite a few characters and now even my favorite girl in the story is missing (although she's not in the initial cast but I imagine the anime will go on long enough to reach her).

1. Emotionless/Reserved (Kiddy Grade, Twenty Faces)
2. Haruhi (Haruhi, Queen's Blade, Lucky Star)
3. Overly cute little sister (Buso Renkin, White Album, AkaSaka)
With nothing really in between.
If she played Lucy like Reira from NANA, I think we might be in better shape, but if she's going to sound like that promo, they would have been better casting Haruka Tomatsu or even MAKO (after hearing the evil side of her voice in Sora o Kakeru Shōjo). It's going to take me a long time to get used to that. Kaori Nazuka would have been good too, the role she played in Mnemosyne would match quite well.
If his tone was closer to the voice he used for the German-speaking devices in the Nanoha franchise (since he apparently speaks it quite well), or Enjo from Kara no Kyoukai, it would be a big improvement. Natsu sounds a little too young in the promo. I'm sure he can pull it off, but if they directors want it like that, then there's nothing to be done.
I wouldn't put Haruhi and Konata in the same section. The voices, while recognizable as Hirano, are quite different. She also has a boyish voice that she uses as Kaoru in Zettai Karen Children. Still, I have to agree that this voice does not suit Lucy at all. Haruka Tomatsu would have been a better choice I think.

While they sound different, I think the two voices are more similar than they are different. While the pitch may be different, the intonation is not. Both Haruhi and Konata rise in pitch as they speak, each getting more excited as they continue to talk. Konata takes it farther and almost squeaks at the end of her sentences, but they both follow the same pattern. Hirano's Imouto characters rise and fall depending on the role, and her reserved characters keep it stable or occasionally drop pitch (Lumière).
Between Kiddy Grade and Haruhi, she didn't really have many (if any) noteworthy roles. So yes, since a lot of her characters lately can be generalized into one of those three categories, I found it was a fairly apt descriptor.
While I definitely agree that deciding she doesn't fit at all from a 20 second promo is completely absurd, I still felt the clip was horribly out of character (saying exactly why would fall into borderline spoiler territory to adequately describe). It is too early to make the judgment that she doesn't fit, and I definitely think she could to a wonderful job if she used influence from the proper past role (Reira in NANA or Pachira from Magical Pokaan with a slightly deeper pitch). The promo doesn't show that, and it is all we have to go on.
So we speculate. It is our nature.
@Ryll - but that change in pitch is a very significant difference. Hirano voiced both Haruhi and Konata perfectly IMO, and the two characters are hardly similar. One is an overactive arrogant babe, while the other is a lazy otaku loli. Swapping their voices with each other would be creepy, as the characters in Lucky Star said so themselves when Konata did it.
Like Ryll, I am not judging the entire series at all. I am just saying that from what I've heard of the preview, Hirano's voice (the one she used) doesn't fit. I can't really state an opinion on something that hasn't even been shown yet, so I only use the material posted above. If she can manage to do well, then all the better. I am a Hirano fan after all.
