Kind of similar to the OVA. The strict dualistic nature is there with the school life and the other world. Connected emotionally, I suppose, but it's hard to see how they are otherwise connected. The bird book of colours was a good detail in that sense. I don't really expect this show to try to explain anything too thoroughly. It would be a bit unfair if the original song and character design never explained it. Kagari was succesfully creepy, even if dolls are a really worn way of creating creepiness. Mato getting so shaken by it was also realistic, I reckon. She's just a little girl, unlike Black Rock Shooter. I don't actually know if the school counsellor meant the one trying to hurt Mato is actually herself in more pain or if the crafty woman was talking about BSR enduring it instead of Mato...
