"Boondock" Sequel Opens For Halloween

I guess this might be ok? Don't know why they replaced Willem Dafoe with some random woman.
I didn't really expect for this to come out. There was nothing in the first movie that warranted a sequel. It also didn't seem like the type of film to do a cash-in with a big budget sequel.

Great, finally.
The first movie is one of my all time favorites, and I've actually been waiting for the sequel since it was announced a few years back.
Hope they don't fuck this up.

Looks good. I enjoyed the first movie, but I wouldn't say it's one of my favorites.
For a similar genre movie, check out "In Bruges".
“For God will not permit that we shall know what is to come... those who by some sorcery or by some dream might come to pierce the veil that lies so darkly over all that is before them may serve by just that vision to cause that God should wrench the world from its heading and set it upon another course altogether and then where stands the sorcerer? Where the dreamer and his dream?”
I didn't like in bruges all that much.

Well they did kind of make fun of your country didn't they.Originally Posted by darkshadow

? Bruges is in Belgium, not The Netherlands. Dutch people make fun of belgians all the time, so no.

Sorry man, I was being a smartass about small European countries all being the same.
What didn't you like about In Bruges exactly? It was witty, gritty, spoke to the soul, and meaningful. Even Boondock Saints can't claim to be all of those things. It was more of just an action-packed shoot-em-up, and from the trailer, BS II will be more of the same.

I love some more 'crazy' action movies like Boondock Saints.
Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch are also two awesome movies thats kinda crazy ^_^

The original is a definite favorite of mine as well, but i agree, there was nothing in it to warrant a sequel. That being said, i've been looking forward to this since the minute i finished the first movie and did a google search to find there was a possible sequel in the works.
I just hope it doesn't crumble under the pressure and turn out to be an empty shell of its predecessor due to money related interference as is the case with so many sequels.
The premise of the Boondock Saints is to rid Boston's streets of evil. Unless Boston's streets were rid of evil by the end of the first, how can there be no warrant for a sequel? The first was not known for spectacular FX and a star studded cast, and did not lack strong DVD sales and word of mouth for it. Troy Duffy is still at helm and has already proven that even with a limited budget, his movies are even moreso witty, gritty, and meaningful than whatever has failed to receive strong DVD sales and word of mouth.
By that logic, this would be a never-ending series of b-movie shoot-em-ups.

Yes, precisely, and with the potential of seeing A-movie budgets eventually.Originally Posted by Animeniax

So, has any anyone seen the second part and would care to comment?
I saw it a few days ago (and again just now). I didn't believe it was possible, but it lived up to the original. The movie kept the pseudo-comedy-action routine and managed to make it work once again. Props to Troy Duffy for being able to pull it off...twice.
I wont ruin it for anyone else by commenting any further, but there are a few things definitely worth discussing.
Edit You can stream the movie (or dl it) here
I thought I was the only one who used NinjaVideo.
Will edit for comment; watching er now.

Any idea if they are going to make a 3rd it seems like they set it up a little?
Ya they did hint at a 3rd, but i haven't heard anything about it yet. I think its more likely the director simply left it open to the possibility of another sequel should they decide to make one later on. Wonder if we'll have to wait another 10 years for it.
