    Will Watch:
A Certain Scientific Railgun - It's Index without Index! Plus loads more Kuroko.
Darker than Black: Comet of Gemini - Finally acquired all the episodes of season 1, loved it.
White Album 2 - The series finally got interesting right at the cliffhanger to the first season.
Queen's Blade 2 - The first season was so bad...that somehow I need more of it.

    Will try:
Fairy Tail - Big fan of the manga, and I'm very interested in who's playing Lucy and Erza. The only reason it isn't a definite is dependent on whether or not they artificially drag out the arcs or not. Short arcs are one of the things I like the most about Hiro Mashima's works.
Sora no Otoshimono (Heaven's Lost Property) - I saw the promo to this a few weeks ago, and it actually looks impressive. It should be a good mix of ecchi/harem and comedy. The serious scenes are animated very nicely.
Kampfer - I just started reading the manga of this. It's a little strange but amusing and the art is good. The plushies are really weird (like their guts are spilling out).
    EDIT:
Kimi no Todoke - Upon review of the chart, I've been needing a new "nice" romance series like Itazura na Kiss or Bokura ga Ita. Not harem, not overly slapstick comedic, and not quite as angsty as White Album 2 might be. This looks right up that alley.

Anything else will be determined as things go.

i find so much to look forward to, by having a great deal of optimism.

In my opinion, since the end of Death Note, anime have been getting worse from season to season. After Death Note there was Claymore, which as still pretty good. After Claymore there was Code Geass which was, again, still pretty good.

But there´s always less appealing stuff (imo of course).
I mean, last seaons, Eden of East was the big hyped up show, and though i enjoyed the series, it doesnt come even close to the 3 above named series.
dude, death note code geass, and claymore (which actually came out after code geass) are all 2006-2007 series. and then code geass r2 is a 2008 series. it's only been a year since code geass r2, so maybe it'll just take a bit more time for another masterpiece like you're looking for.

Now i look at this overview in the OP and....all i see are generic fantasy-anime and romantic-anime.
well you have to remember. the production studios are trying to keep themselves in business. they can't just pump out whatever they want. they've gotta make what sells.

And maybe 1 oder 2 scifi-anime that are ruined by a female lead.
oh yeah, because an intelligent woman is an oxymoron. chicks are there for tits, not to talk. it's always a waste of time whenever a woman actually does something.

I know that ill find 2-3 shows that ill enjoy, but still...i miss the days of the .... masterpieces, like Death Note. Just remembering the feeling of following Death Note...man, good times.
i say just give it time.. and know what to watch. something'll come along. you know Box of Goblins was made by the same studios, and the director actually worked on (but not directed) Death Note. but it isn't even fully subbed...

If you're willing to admit it, I might as well....

Even though it was "bad", it still had some sort of story lying under all those naked bodies. The first season ended at a nice cliffhanger too.

    If it's not Isuzu-chan Mii~

    Definites:

Darker Than Black 2 - Absolute must, since I loved the first season. Even if Loli-C.C. is not there anymore, Yin is still too strong a jailbait for me.

A Certain Scientific Railgun - I have read some of the manga, and I must say, I like this a lot more than the Index counterpart. Aside from not having Index, Touma is just much cooler in this version.

Sasameki Koto - Yuri dose for the season, and a good solid one at that.

White Album 2 - Got a bit too emo during the first season, and is sure to get even more emo than that this time around, but I have to know how everything will turn out.

    Probably:

Natsu no Arashi 2 - I watched the first season, and while I am not too impressed, I still want to know how it will all end.

Kimi ni Todoke - Might be good to have a balanced romance story one in a while.

Armed Librarians - Falling in love with the enemy is a favorite theme of mine, no matter how trite.

The Sacred Blacksmith - I feel Regios vibes from this. I like protagonists that are initially strong, so we don't have to get dragged around the shounen power-up crap.

Fairy Tail - I am a fan of the manga, but it will all depend on how they animate Erza. If she gets detailed armour, swords, and retains her cold appeal, I will watch this.

Kobato - Sounds like Tsubasa Chronicle and Aria combined. It might have potential if it does not go too slow.

    Possible:

Asura Cryin 2 - I had to muddle through the last few episodes of this, and I actually don't like it, but I will still give it a chance because I already wasted half a season on the first half.

I read a bit of Kimi ni Todoke, and it reminds me a lot of Angel Densetsu if you made that shonen comedy into a shoujo romance comedy. Sawako and Kitano are very similar people, both horribly misunderstood. This is switching to a definite watch.

Obviously, the best anime season in a while comes around the same time school starts

isn't the fall season always the best?

fall '07 and '08 were both super awesome seasons, packed with series that i'm still trying to find time to watch. and though this fall season doesn't look as good as the past two years, it definitely looks like it's got some quality show.

every season so many shows come out... and so many of the ones I'm interested in aren't subbed at all... really only see myself adding two or three of these news shows, so trying to be a bit more realistic with this post...

Letter Bee might be interesting for me... i have no idea why, but i think i'm just in love with post-apocaylpse settings.

Nyan Koi seems absolutely stupid, but as I despise cats myself, I think it might be the light comedy dose I've been lacking since Akikan

... ... that's it? jesus. i honestly don't think i've ever seen a season preview set that's failed to interest me as much as this one does. MFauli, you do strike a pretty good point (testarossa also). I feel like it's just more and more of the same, unoriginal show-types...

Humans are different from animals. We must die for a reason. Now is the time for us to regulate ourselves and reclaim our dignity. The one who holds endless potential and displays his strength and kindness to the world. Only mankind has God, a power that allows us to go above and beyond what we are now, a God that we call "possibility".

I do agree that the new season is rather lackluster but to quote Pandaice from above, most of the stuff that you mention are fairly recent. Both Death Note and Code Geass are rather flawed (i really can't call them masterpieces, but that's a matter of personal opinion) and the anime version of Claymore was butchered.

If you can't find anything new to be worthwhile to watch then i suggest trying some of the older series from the 90's.

    To add onto my list:

Kampfer: i recently started reading the manga and the premise is not bad, so that'll give me 3 show to watch. Even though i'm kinda tempted to not bother with Asura Cryin 2 since the last few episodes of the first one was so bad.

AFAIK, a sequel OVA to Shana II.

I pretty much want to watch everything. Hopefully I'll cut back some after PVs.
