    Aoi Hana

    From Wikipedia
    Manga synopsis
Fumi and Akira were best friends when they were little, with Akira always looking after the crybaby Fumi, but that all ended when Fumi's family moved away. Several years later, Fumi's family returned, and she and Akira happened to bump into each other on their way to school. They became friends again, quickly slipping back into old patterns. Shortly after, Fumi began dating a cool, attractive upperclassman who, coincidentally enough, had ties to Akira's current school, the prestigious Fujigatani Girls' Academy.
The manga is classified as yuri. Let's see what comes out of the anime:

    [Koharubi]_Aoi_Hana_-_01_[162D7A7D].mkv 232.98 MiB @ anirena

I'm only starting the dl, so I'll discover everything some time after posting this message.

Not a good anime-day today perhaps? This one didn't kick in strongly enough for me neither. Not to the degree of Maria , but Fumi still ticked me off a bit.

Whaaat? I thought this was awesome. I may be slightly biased because I am a yuri fan, but the feel of the whole show was quite good. The relatively simple art blended well with the slice of life vibe. I particularly liked how they introduced the yuri element in the show. It wasn't blatant, nor passed of as humour (like in strawberry panic). It had real feeling, despite the very short scene it was shown. The shocked look Fumi had on her face upon realizing her romantic interest will get married spoke volumes about herself.

I am really looking forward to this show.

I should clarify, I meant "Not a good anime-day today" to mean "not a good day for me to watch anime.", meaning I was tuned out, not in the mood, tired, distracted, all of the above, or other.

Sorry if anybody thought I meant Friday/Thursday of this season was a bad anime day.

As for the show, so far I just haven't liked the characters. That plays a huge part here, since the whole point of this show is the development of each character and their relationships. The setting is a fairly normal highschool with average things going on.

Granted, they've gone to a lot of detail in subtle delivery as you've pointed out.

It just doesn't help that the two main characters displayed two of my pet peeves: brother-hater (probably why I disliked Ayumi from Hatsukoi Limited) and cry baby (countless examples).

Ah, I am with you on that brother-hater pet peeve, especially if the brother is a good guy.

I like Fumi's design, she's too young, but I like tall and thin dark haired women. (My wife is petite, thin, and blond by the way so love isn't just about preferences...)
But I do not like her behaviour.

For the moment that's all I have to say, I really need more eps to enter this slow pace show.

Aside from that, I think one of the girls in Fumi's classroom has the same VA as Yui in K-on, I didn't check so I might be wrong.

Funny how I didn't get the Fumi-Chizu yuri moment when I know the show is about it too... I guess I'm just a begginer in the genre.

I didn't find any of the characters to be visually appealing, that's gonna make it hard for me to get into the yuri-ness. I also hate the fact that Fumi is a cry baby type. I'm hoping that she will evolve beyond that in future episodes.

I wonder if anyone is interrested in this.
Maybe I can stop posting links?

I caught up on episodes 2-3 yesterday, and I have to say, they were much more enjoyable than episode 1, thanks to someone not crying at every bloody thing that happens to them.

Now that that(^)'s toned down a bit, I'm actually liking the pacing.

I just finished episode 2 and I agree it was way better than episode 1. Fumi was still crying way too much, though.

As far as ep 3 goes, things are heating up. I just wish they had actually showed that scene instead of just their feet moving closer together. I wonder how Kyoko will react when she finds out about Yasuko's date and other things. I'm hoping that she turns vengeful and creates some drama.

    Akira's brother needs serious help.

I didn't care much for this show after episode 1, but now I'm enjoying it and can't wait to see what happens next.

I loved "Then get emotionally prepared" from the basketball chick. I wonder how many sexual assault/date rape scenarios have started with such words. Anyway, this show feels rather slow but it has managed to keep me from distracting myself for the full time twice in a row so I'll try to stick with it to the end. Hopefully I'll last longer than I did trying to watch Blue Drop.

[OT]I won't be able to update anything for I'm on a tour in France with my wife, Annecy, Lyon and next Bordeaux/Arcachon and other destinations. I will probably finish with Paris as a tourist... Yes my hometown I only know as a parisian and worker...[/OT]

I hope this show keeps well, I really like it.
