    Fullmetal Alchemist Music Thread

This seems to have become a tradition or something so whatever I'll play along.

I just couldn't wait for the single to drop (June 03 2009) fortunately the net was kind enough to bless us with PV Rips.
FMA: Brotherhood OP1 - Again by Yui (PV Rip) <- DDL

For those of you looking for the ED I believe this is the PV for the ED song in mkv format from which one could rip the song if one were so inclined. If it is then I plan to rip it myself and I can post it if anyone is interested in bypassing the scary prospect of demuxing. The single for Uso should be out April 29th 2009 though so if you don't care that much you can just wait a few weeks and get a CD rip.

PV rips didn't do it for me, so now I'm listening to the full OP .

I was looking forward to that single coming out. I feel that the full version is a bit dragged out and redundant, and that I prefer the tv-cut's "fresher" feel.

I like the other two tracks, but they more or less suffer from the same dragged feel.

At last, I can delete that barely passable 160kbps version I've got.

I like both songs here. They lack a bit of individuality, as opposed to Golden Time Lover, but since they're by no means bad songs, that just makes them easier to digest and listen to. (OP3 took a bit of getting used to, but the TV ver. is now my ringtone).

as sometimes happens, i accidentally listened to the full radio version of Period (OP4) at dinner today. basically, i just can never like the full version of most anime OP or EDs (the Gundam SEED series has some notable exceptions, same for Tank! from Cowboy Bebop) compared to listening to the OP with animation before an episode, or the ED after an episode.

i'm an anime fan. i'm not a j-pop fan. even the most mediocre songs can seem awesome when the parts of them are cherry-picked and matched with stunning animation of a fanboy's beloved anime. not to mention the mental boost you feel before viewing an episode.

just hearing the song (in this case, PERIOD), it pretty much is just another j-pop hit. catchy but formulaic, fun but forgettable. sure, when i heard it start to play, i sort of perked up, but that's because of the anime, not the song. the same goes for when I hear any former OP/ED song play. I'm filled with thoughts about the anime, but the song? just a device. and rarely a very good piece of individual work.

Humans are different from animals. We must die for a reason. Now is the time for us to regulate ourselves and reclaim our dignity. The one who holds endless potential and displays his strength and kindness to the world. Only mankind has God, a power that allows us to go above and beyond what we are now, a God that we call "possibility".

I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing as such. It's largely the same for me, although I'm not really any music enthusiast and I can pretty much happily listen to anything melodic. Anyway, it should really be a plus if the music connects to something else in your mind. I have a bunch of OSTs/OP&EDs in my archive already and while there are some genuinely really good pieces there, it's still a fact I wouldn't have got almost any of them if they weren't the music of decent shows I've seen. Moreover, there are only two jpop artists, whose non-anime songs I've been collecting.

That being said, I find the OP4, Period, quite an interesting song as it has that nice melody going on.
