    Asura Cryin'

"The main character, Natsume Tomoharu, takes the opportunity to live on his own when he enters high school. Although he appears to be a normal high school student at first glance, there is one thing about him which isn't normal. He's haunted by the ghost of a young girl, Minakami Misao.

Tomoharu moves to his new place of residence, Meioutei, and starts enjoying a carefree high school life. But this is all ruined when a beautiful girl named Kurosaki Shuri appears with a trunk which Tomoharu's brother told her to pass on to Tomoharu. Because Tomoharu is in possession of the trunk, he will come face to face with the the hidden truth of this world."

    Episode 1 - AoT

The first episode didn't really offer a load of answers but enough to give at least the second episode a chance. It seems like a mix of magic/mystery/mecha, possibly with some religious elements (though that doesn't mean much in anime). Hard to say too much about the characters yet. The main character did indicate some reluctance to fight, but I'm still hopeful. I'm not overly fond of "invisible friends" in general, and scenes where characters embarrass themselves by seemingly talking to empty air are at the bottom of my list of things to look forward to, but bearing through that shouldn't be impossible.

The graphics were decent enough. No problems with the subs, either.

First episode is a complete mess. Like Kraco... I'll see episode 2 before deciding to keep seeing it or to drop it...

That was a complete mess, indeed. But it was quite interesting as well. A lot more interesting than I thought it would be.

  4. #4
That was certainly strange, jumping in a quick session. Otherwise, this anime intrigues me.

    Asura machinae:

    Episode 2 - AoT

    - - - - - - - -

Edit: The first episode was pretty confusing, and while this second episode wasn't yet much clearer than Nadouku's gender, it was still somewhat more straight-forward. At least the reasons for action were more evident, and the factions have started to take better shape. Still nothing much about the machanisms or the background has been told, but all in due time, I believe. In any case this series has started to look quite interesting. I'll keep watching.

I'm also very happy to have found a series this season with a girl with heterochromia...

It has been a while for some good old female heterochromia hasn't it. Anyway, I'm still confused by this show but it seems to have an interesting enough set up. I like the set of character archetypes that have been introduced to so far and that's pretty much all I can ask out of a show like this. So far I've noticed (demon) miko, devoted imouto of crazed antagonist and shady secret organization representative. Also, Misao passing up a perfect opportunity for an overblown tsundere reaction to Tomo and Shuri's sleeping arrangement was a big plus in my book.

    Oh, you!

It was somewhat explained about who the hell they were, and what they were after, but I was more interested in the comedy than the real plot of the story. Anywho, something about Kanade interests me, whether she's a demon or related to the "mafia".

A worthy fansubber has appeared! Anime Yoshi has decided to tackle this anime on, so I will scrap AoT and archive Anime Yoshi. Sadly, they will probably be behind, but oh well.

hmm hard to say - they are way different, but i like them the same.
You pay for bandwidth used in Australia right? for me it would be like step backward...
You could have someone dl it for you and send it to you, you would just have pay sending cost. From here it would be bad idea - for priority package to the Australia you would have to pay 103PLN, which is near to 25USD... well that is the price for 1kg(minimum) of DVDs so for some episodes it might be bad idea but for few series who knows. Of course DVDs must have been labeled as vacation photos or something like that to avoid suspicion.

Asura Cryin' might be worth looking into if you like the cast of characters (mainly the girls) and the mechas that are brought into the battles. I can't say if Asura Cryin' is better than Shangri-La, but definitely give it a try.

My friend actually lives in my city, so we just trade HDDs. Suspicion free

Thanks for the answers Xel & Nad. I'll look into it if I have time.

Well, I watched episode 3 and 4. Episode 3 was so freaking confusing, but at least it was a good fight, in my opinion. Episode 4 is your standard vacation trip with a lot more wacky humor added to it. Somehow, this anime series is very appealing, despite the confusing animation.

AniYoshi finally got their act together, at least partly:

    Episode 3 - AniYoshi
I personally switched to AniYoshi, but AoT released as well, if somebody's interested:
    Episode 3 - AoT

It was good to see the ghost girl wasn't dead. Though seeing how their bodies are seemingly trapped inside the mechas, it makes perfect sense destroying a projection doesn't actually do that much. Perhaps just some disorientation. It was a pretty funny scene where the dude raised the suitcase to summon the Asura Machine, yet nothing happened. I foresaw it going that way (since the ghost wasn't present), but it was funny nonetheless.

You can't compare Bush to Hitler cause Bush is the village idiot and Hitler was border line genius, unfortunately he was border line insane also, so sad such a mind went to waste.

    Episode 4 - AniYoshi

    - - - - -

The 4th episode certainly didn't make me consider the series too boring to watch. Though it seemed just a bit unlikely the folks are now working for the same man who tried to kill them in the previous episode. I guess bearing a grudge isn't too high on their list of priorities... What the actual meaning of this episode was is another matter. Maybe it was to simply explain what a contract between Tomoharu and the heterochromia girl would mean (it would be interesting see what their "child" would look like).

Since you guys have been comparing this show plots to Nadouku's gender, it's only appropriate that episode introduce an androgynous character.

I'm gonna make an obvious guess that the Machina at the end is the opposite of Kurogane.
