I thought this deserved its own thread. They have this mother of octuplets in the news, and she's already had 6 kids before, 1 of which is autistic. I think she's insane, and doesn't have the proper means to care for even a portion of the kids she already has, let alone 8 more.

she was saying on her dateline interview that she wasn't receiving any assistance, or income but then goes on to say that she's getting foodstamps ( welfare ) and is using student loans to support the kids.

I'm wondering if they're going to take any of them away from her either on the basis of child endangerment or that she's unfit to be a mother, or a combination of the two.

The other famous octuplets, John & Kate + 8 as their tv show is called... thats alot more acceptable because you have a married couple and you assume that one of them at least is working, and making a living and providing a way to support themselves along with 8 kids.

I don't want to rant anymore, what do you think about this situation? will she become a millionaire from pity donations ?

If nothing else, I hope this case leads to the institution of controls on reproductive rights in the US. I've always liked the 1 or 2 kids per family rules in countries like China and Vietnam. People shouldn't be allowed to have more kids than they can care for. It's bad for the kids and bad for the state that has to pay the welfare to take care of them, as well as for the prisons and rehab centers to house and deal with them when they're older delinquents. Nothing to say they will 100% be bad kids, but it's more than likely since kids without proper adult supervision and guidance usually turn out bad.

Of course this is America, so she will probably be a celebrity and make millions for doing nothing beyond spreading her legs, the tramp.

While certainly uncommon, this is really just another example of how far one can take their "human rights" without trampling on those of others.

Technically, yes, she can have as many kids as she wants. It's her body after all. But she obviously didn't think about how to raise them, or if she did, either overestimated herself, or thought others would somehow help her. Disregarding her financial ability, how's she going to feed all 8 babies throughout the night? And the other what...6 kids she has already? The only way I can see this turn out right is if she palms them off to people, pretending she never had them, or if people pull in resources to help her, rather than other unfortunate people who became the way they are due to unavoidable, or unfortunate circumstances out of their control.

It's still her right, but sometimes people these days focus on exercising their "rights" and "wants" without thinking of the consequence. Boiling down to their motives, she isn't that far off from those kids who urged the teen to jump off the building.

Don't worry about the well-being of the children, from what I've read, she's making sure her mother will occupy an early grave trying to take care of all those sniveling little shits while she's busy collecting taxpayer dollars.

This kind of irresponsible attitude is one of the fundamental things wrong with some people these days. I've heard that there is an ongoing investigation into the doctor who gave her fertility drugs, but frankly, she's still at fault for seeking them out.

Six children was already far too much for her to handle as a single parent, and this was completely out of line. Sadly, I do think that she'll be fine sucking off the teat of welfare, as well as donations.

As fucked up as the organization is, and as messed up as it can make children's lives, I sincerely hope the Department of Child and Family Services are looking into this and working to take her children away from her before she can bring harm to them through unintentional neglect. With the other issue DCFS got involved in last year (the FLDS Mormons), no matter what disagreements I may have with their way of life, at least the community was tightly bound enough to care for all the high numbers of children.

I don't give a shit if she had some self-proclaimed horrible past, or how much she loves children, or even if whatever mental issues she will use as an excuse.

There is no excuse for irresponsible behavior that can lead to the neglect of children. Can't afford them? Can't take care of them? Can't feed them? Can't raise them? Can't give them some of the the individual attention children need? Don't have them.


She's using these new eight children for money, attention, and fame. No mother gets an agent just for having a few kids. This woman is expoiting her children.

She's delusional if she thinks people don't notice that she's had her lips done, no matter how many times she claims she hasn't. The angelina jolie reference was kind of creepy in light of the fanatic suicidal fan that killed herself in front of paula abdul's house.

I think she's probably already got tons of donations, and is soaking up her 15 minutes of fame / infamy before everybody forgets about her. Will she get a reality show?!

I don't think that was quite what it was. It wasn't the sperm that she didn't want to waste, but rather other combined zygotes too. At least, what's what I remember, since they said there were no more. (That guy's got to have more than 11-12 sperms per shot )

I think the more information they release about her, the less I like her. For example, she's currently receiving $2,500-$3,000 per month in disability for 3 of her children, 1 who is autistic, 1 who has add.... and not sure about the other. I don't want to wish bad things on the other 8 babies but I think when there are 8 premature babies, chances of development problems are very high.

So, I know I don't have any kids to take care of, but she makes more money than I do off of disability for her kids <inserts audio clip of octo-mom saying she's not receiving any kind of handouts >

I'm actually pretty curious how much money has been donated to octo-mom via her website w\ paypal account...

I don't think paypal would ever disclose the amount, but they were reporting that she'd put a down payment down on a huge house... and cost of living is not cheap in california which is the crazy part. here in dallas $200,000 will get you a very large (3000-4000 sq foot) nice home... and in california the same house is probably at least 1 million.

I haven't really been following the octomom news. TMZ had a blurb about "1500 more reasons to hate octomom" so i went to see what it was about, and it was a story about her spending $1500 on clothes for herself. They had linked stories in which she dropped over $1000 in MAC the make-up store.

I don't think I've ever seen her with more than one kid at a time aside from at home... and i'm not sure how that works if you have 14 kids. I'm not sure if any of them can develop correctly if they don't have a parents attention at all.

It might be the media's doing, but partly whey I'm so negative about the whole thing is that Octo-Mum's been portrayed as being a simple-minded "I like children, they're so cute!!" person without thinking of the consequences.

For an adult, this naiveness translates to selfishness.
