    Gundam 00 Season 2 Episode 18

    Out on Animewoot.com

    http://www.animewoot.com/series/inde...76&ep_id=10504

    First thoughts:

Pretty strong episode. 00 Gundam is turning out to be a pretty well written series with this second season. As predicted, during the 4 month lull, the Federation pins the Africa Tower collapse on CB and anti-federation forces. A lot of development this episode with Andrei and Louise (the whole irony of those two working together and the death of their parents) not to mention The innovators, and a possible rebellion against ribbons by Regene.

Minimal screentime with Marina and her brats (always a plus!), but with a nice cliffhanger to boot which leaves us wondering the future of Kataron.

It's great to see Soma back, fighting alongside CB to avenge the colonel. And it looks like Anew and Lockon are official now There's also hints laid that some ppl at CB may suspect her presence on board.

The whole theory of using Veda to control world information flow may pretty much explain how the general public and the 'internet' can't expose any of the crimes A-laws has committed too.

Anyone else thought of the barack obama parallel when they introduced the first president of the federation? (not saying he's supporting a totalitarian regime but just being the 'first' president. Since 00 does reference what happens in the world in its show i.e the first season with terrorism)

and damnit, I just wish Graham would ditch that awful mask.

I also hope Saji's the one who kills Andrei. That would be poetic justice or Soma, Heck, I just want that bastard dead.

Lastly, anyone else chuckled a bit when every character said the name of someone important to them before the battle, but all Setsuna and Tiera said was "Gundam" and "Veda"? rofl

That explains only a minor technical aspect. The hard to swallow main factor is that apparently all the people, even in the Union and AEU, have accepted no free press and a censored net... I find that an even more shaky detail than any fancy Gundam upgrades. Honestly, it's ridiculous how easily that whole elevator stuff was explained. It's kind of like everybody would suddenly believe the Iranian president when he says there was no holocaust. But then again, he have no touch to the general populace anymore, so who knows... Maybe there are automatons at every street corner, summarily killing anybody who utters a wrong word.

The new president probably also got 99% of the votes...

spin spin spin me a story.
spin spin spin me a lie.

you could make an entire series out of the details that would be required to get it done, but the info control done by the Federation and President Black Bush (aka, Evil Obama) was pretty nasty good stuff.

was really glad that, right off the bat for the time skip, we had:
    Kati going AWOL from ALAWS.
Soma fighting (and, more importantly, Allelu not throwing too much of ahissy fit about it,
Saji continually sliding into a more permanent role. (although, the yaoi fangirls must be having some conflict going on, since in season 1 everyone had Setsuna (uke) paired with Lockon(seme), but now Saji almost certainly has to be catching... he's even in the same role for Setsuna as Soma is for Allelu
Ribbons verbal smack-down on Wang Liu Mei. Even though he totally is what he was speaking about, the guy delivers some eloquent "Your shit stinks!" mockery.
Wang Liu Mei + Regene. It's gotta happen (oh, it does...)
Andrei getting undressed right after his promotion (also, his little sneer of satisfaction when he got into the Ahead)
a rather candid unveiling of the newest Ptolemy couple.
    Bitch, you got sniped!
also, BITCH BE IN THE KITCHEN! (now if we could only be so lucky for her to stay in there feeding those brats until the show winds down...)

    what i'm not down with:
super killer space stations going down like grunt Zakus/Leos
Shirin getting soft since she started sleeping with what's his face
how they tried to sell Andrei's "after the fact" rationalization for his patricide. None of that shit is why he killed his father.
giggling Innovators. What wastes of screen time.
the cliff hanger with Marina. God, I hate to say this, but I'm actually hoping she doesn't die (see below for reasoning)
Kataron's lookout guys don't even have cell phones or radios? come on guys!

    random thoughts:
was there anything behind Wang Liu Mei addressing her 'servant' as "brother" finally?
did anyone else laugh out loud (for real) when everyone was saying the names of someone important to them right before the ED rolled, and Tieria said, "Veda" ? I did.

    finally.
what is up with the radio playing Marina + Brats' song? If it's what I think it is (GN Particles solve everything AND have a will of their own to be a literal deus ex machina to guide us towards our happy ending) I am not going to be happy. somewhat interesting concept, but sounds like the kind of stuff a bunch of 12 year old stoners would come up with post-bong rip...
also, if Marina does die, somehow she'll become this ethereal voice floating around in the GN particles and... ugh... i can't stand to think about it..

it's going to be a "everything is GN particles. Super Soldiers, Innovators, Veda, people who've "phased" while riding certain mobile suits, and blah blah blah we all get along because blah blah blah we're all one but we're not the same (cue U2)

preview looks promising. looks like it'll all come out for the Innovators. If Veda really is all that important, then this little note-passing might be Regene's last play.

I too liked that Kati seems to have defected as a result of Sergei's (a man she respected) death and the Federation turning around their own assault as playing the victim. Someone had to defect soon. I guess I was right last episode. I'm hoping that she joins Katharon honestly. Those dumbasses need all the help they can get apparently. If anyone can turn them around, it's someone like Kati.

I'm glad Soma is back. She's cold again to Al, but something definitely had to happen in their relationship. I'm half hoping that he has to turn into Hal (which should happen when Setsuna/Saji go into Innerspace or whatever again) to *cough* conquer her again, but I wouldn't really mind if he won her over as Soma too. They'll probably pull the, "I can be your family now" angle.

All is not well in the House of Almark either it seems. I suppose that Regene doesn't appreciate that Ribbons intends to rule over all of the Innovators as well as humanity. There will probably be a coup against him the same way he screwed over Alejandro last season.

The best part of the episode was right at the end, when Lasse commented that Lockon "sniped" Anew. With Feldt congratulating them though, who will she pair with now? It seems like a bit of a letdown to leave her out after the development she started to get last season and at the beginning of this one. She's even prominently featured in the OP.

there's been quite a few rumors flying around here and there that she'll ultimately be paired up with Setsuna. If Marina really does die (or even if she doesn't), I could see them trying to pull it, even though it would come out of absolute nowhere.

    edit -
it was discussed a little here,

and after seeing the "evidence" for the first time, i'm not sure whether to laugh out loud or seriously believe it. i'm as firm a believer in Sunrise spoiling lots of shit in their OPs/EDs, but the evidence just seems too... and, can anyone honestly remember more than two scenes where Feldt and Setsuna spoke to each other? I can't.

Yeah, I thought a little more seriously about that rumor after she completely gave up on new-Lockon in this episode. I thought it was a total leap before, but now there is some exceedingly minor plausibility to it. It would still be out of absolute nowhere, but who can tell anymore?

I don't think they ever spoke outside of a meeting of the entire Ptolemy crew. Both seasons. And saying they spoke to each other is probably pushing it as well. I can't remember a single instance either.

I had such a laugh when people said they names of those they loved and Tieria said Veda and Setsuna said Gundam. Heh...the thing that is slowing down the spreading of the fake GN particles in his body are more then likely the GN particles that are emitted from 00-Raiser/ Trans-Am Raiser.

Im glad to have provide at least a little food for thought. As for me I actually do want something to happen for Feldt, shes a likable character and it would be a waste for her to be just left for dead development wise. I couldnt care less if Setsuna gets "a" girl but if it gives Feldt more screen time ill go along with it. This isnt like GSD where I thought Luna was way to good for Anikan...i mean Shin. Oh well we'll see what happens even though there is only what? like 8 episodes left? Remember this is Sunrise were talking about here, its not the first time that they tried to pull shit like this out of their ass.

edit: I also literally laugh out loud when, Tieria said Veda and Setsuna said Gundam at the end.

It might be the other way around this time, with Setsuna being too good for the delusional singing maid.

i am going to come out and say it: I truly do believe that Setsuna is going to end up with Feldt.

so i was in the shower this morning, and for some reason i was thinking about this episode of Gundam 00 (you know you watch too match anime when...), and there were two things bugging me from this episode. The first was the 'cliff hanger' with Marina shielding the boy as the ALAWS troops storm their building, and the second was when the song Marina and the kids sang played on the radio in Klaus' room.

now, first off, can anyone, anyone at all, explain how and why that song would actually ever get on the air? let's even assume it's a tiny, independently run radio station. are we saying Kataron put some money down for recording equipment and then risked being found by sending out guys with demo CDs to local disc jockeys?

the answer, of course, is no. Klaus didn't even know how it could be on the radio, so Kataron didn't release it. And for all their subtley (sarcasm) Sunrise has them ask how it could be possible that the song could be on the radio while the camera lingers meaningfully on a shot of Marina and the kids doing Verse 2: eating food.

so, what else happened this episode? oh, it was revealed that "something" (read: GN motherfucking Particles) are fighting the evil red GN poision Setsuna got shot with. of course, this happens when the 00 Gundam isn't even on. the GN Particles have just sort of got the idea to go help him out.

now, of course, i'm going to totally bite and say, yes, Marina does die, or goes coma or something. this would buck some Gundam trends involving death and female characters, but fall right in line with others (i'm not going to spoil here). it's not like there's much of a chance for her to meet up with Setsuna, and if she dies she can more readily support him, give him a Dead Bitch Motivation Boost AND clear the way for Feldt to come back into play (which, let's face it, is going to be as the 00 Raiser pilot once Saji meets up with Louise next episode and leaves CB for good).

In fact, I was thinking recently in the shower, several long paragraphs ago, about, if Marina did die, how exactly she'd appear to Setsuna. And it struck me that we already have had an instance of a "departed" very convincigly showing up in characters' thoughts and dreams. Of course, I'm talking about Original Lockon. This whole GN particle business takes the "spirit of the dead reaching out to its loved ones" trope and gives it actual technical plausibility (of course, born out of the ridiculously silly and impossible technical plausibilititties that sell hosts of model kits, figurines, and make OP/ED songs the #1 song in a nation)

Yes, I am going way out on a limb here, but I can't help but feel this way. I'm calling it; this is the shit I think is going to happen.

also, ways it might not happen:
    - Marina doesn't actually get killed and somehow Kataron unites with CB and she gets to pester Setsuna face-to-face
    - Anew gets ID'd as the unknowing mole once CB gets Veda back and she dies/gets dumped by New Lockon, who somehow manages to get Feldt then.
    - they end up never pairing Feldt with anyone (but I'm not buying that one from the way the OP and ED goes)
    - they end up pairing Feldt with Tieria (no fucking way)

Humans are different from animals. We must die for a reason. Now is the time for us to regulate ourselves and reclaim our dignity. The one who holds endless potential and displays his strength and kindness to the world. Only mankind has God, a power that allows us to go above and beyond what we are now, a God that we call "possibility".

Unless they plan to make all innovators evil by default, Anew could die in a heroic manner, sacrificing herself once she learns she's the mole. Lockon could then be consoled by Feldt.

I could easily see them doing the Anew dies tragically line, sacrificing herself because inside, Innovators are not all power-hungry evil psychos or backstabbing, questionably-gendered antagonists. But New-Lockon already told Feldt off, and they didn't really speak since, so I can't see that happening.

Like masa though, I just can't see them leaving Feldt alone given her prominence in the OP. Sumeragi isn't in it, and she's gotten more development and screentime since.

As for Feldt and Tieria, it's more likely (but still not possible given her age) that Tieria and Milena (desu~) would grow closer together. He's put blankets on her, and she's seen him off before missions now, they seem to be growing closer, or at least closer than anyone else who's gotten on better terms with Tieria. I'm still holding out on him turning female.

That's who would get together with New-Lockon after Anew dies nobly. The only person who has a hard on for original Lockon more than Feldt was Tieria.

On another note back to Andrei the fact that he had to justify his killing his dad with complete lies doesn't that mean he's aware that he did something wrong or rather for selfish reasons or was is it just because Louise was in the room. Wonder if he'll die or just have a wake up call finding out everything about his dad and then be all emo about it.

For Andrei, I think it wasn't because of Louise, but because he's naive. Andrei has been looking for years for more concrete reasons to hate his father, and finding out that he was in a mobile suit that popped out of the collapsing elevator (ie someone to blame) was quite literally a gift from heaven.

Andrei obviously never looked into who sent Sergei up to the station or why, just that he was glad that his father came out of it appearing guilty and is even easier to blame for it. The only thing he might feel guilty about was saying that all in front of Louise because he knows she entered the military to avenge the deaths in her family.

It's Gundam. He'll be all emo about it.

    Loner Meisters made me lol.

As for who'd team up with Felt...I'd say the male she'd have the most conversations with would be Lasse. Not an impossibility in my books, and it kind of works because of the lack of evidence why it wouldn't. Chris fell for Bio-fella last time, and she didn't even consider him until 10 seconds before she died.

I'm also putting my money on that Shirin dies as she jumps in from of Marina, partially because of the little lovey bits earlier, and partially her former guardian instincts kicking in.

"The GN-particles have a mind of their own" isn't getting my support for the reason that I haven't seen it in action before, though if it's also a Gundam Tradition of sorts, then you can probably count on it happening.

    If it's not Isuzu-chan Mii~
