I feel like someone should mourn the fact that with all the different things going on in this series like overpowered monsters, a random English TV show that seems to have something to do with the plot, and evil fairies possessing people, what seems to get the most attention are the dynamics of the undesired harem that has built itself up around Layfon.
Anyway, I have to take Layfon's side in all this romantic posturing. This most recent episode really underlined why I feel like some of these girls need to be pushed out an airlock for a few minutes. As much as I love Felli as a character I can't ignore the irritation I felt when she just had to interrupt Layfon in the middle of what should have been obvious was a serious battle, and then after the fact she didn't seem to show much remorse that her distraction ended up getting him a good slashing. Leerin gets a little leeway for her behavior because she didn't know why Layfon was fighting only that he was fighting but still, if you're going to jump to conclusions and beat on people who just got injured you aren't getting a gold star and a pat on the back from me. Nina seemed to behave in a fairly neutral manner in this case which I had to respect. Still, I miss Mei-shen who might have actually been supportive of Layfon instead of berating him or cold shouldering him to protect her own feelings.
Meanwhile back at the actual 'plot' (I hope) Haia was acting like a bratty kid and got the typical "You had friends all along so you didn't really need to prove yourself" ending so whatever I can see how there's not much to talk about there. But wtf is Zuellini supposed to do against Grendan? Was it said that cities in proximity automatically have to fight or can they just meet and say hi and go their separate ways? Even if they don't have an inter-city match though we know Grendan is interested in Haikizoku and Nina is conveniently carrying one around so tension seems inevitable. Hopefully Layfon can avoid being physically and emotionally abused by his 'suitors' long enough to save yet another of them from the next inevitable kidnapping.
I also noticed the girl with the wizard hat and fishnets from the OP seems to be among what I assume were the Heaven's-Blade receivers so I'm excited about that, wizard hats make everything better.
