    Chrome Shelled Regios

LQ with shitty raw from Ayako episode 1:
    http://a.scarywater.net/ayako/%5BAya...5D.avi.torrent

Apparently a better version will come out in 4 days or something. I myself will wait for the AnimeYoshi version since they seem to be doing it too.

*Based on a light novel series by Shuusuke Amagi, illustrated by Miyuu.

The world was infected by "Pollutant" years ago - world cracked open and generally screwed up. This Pollutant spawns nasty "Pollutant Beasts", but it's also resulted in people gaining special powers. The towns that now litter the world are protected by alchemists and are mobile - these are the "Regios" of the title.

The story follows a guy named Lei-Fon Alseif who starts at a new school following the disappearance of his childhood friend and gets recruited into the special 17th Platoon in order to combat Pollutant Beasts.

I watched the Yuurisan version, because it wasn't marketing itself as low quality:

    Episode 1 - Yuurisan-Subs

It was indeed left a bit vague what's going on and what was the main character dude's background and whether there are human factions fighting each other or if it's just humans vs monsters. But it looked like a decent enough series all in all. I hope the dude isn't any pacifist, though, seeing how he wasn't going to join the military school and even tried to protest against the transfer despite getting free education.

    Episode 2 LQ - Ayako

Let's see if this starts to make any more sense.

Edit: Great, it added even more confusion.

Its a battle anime. I wouldn't expect much in terms of explanations.

It seems to be progressing story wise, but not character developement wise. :/

I'm enjoying it a little more. Now that it's at episode 6.

For a battle anime, the fights are quite quick with very lil animation.

When will a company make an anime as epic as Gurren Laggan. You reach one awesome level, then the next, you go another epic level higher with pure power. :/

Felli doesn't approve this lack of updates.

    Episode 2 - Yuurisan-Subs
    Episode 3 - Yuurisan-Subs
    Episode 4 - Yuurisan-Subs
    Episode 5 - Yuurisan-Subs

    Episode 6 - Whatever
    Episode 7 - Whatever
    Episode 8 - Whatever

I think this series is continuing pretty strongly. I, for one, also appreciate the fact the main character isn't a loser in the beginning and gradually gets stronger, but instead is an asskicker right in the beginning and the other gradually find out just how hard he can kick. That's infinitely cooler. Even though Layfon does no doubt have some anti-fighting tendencies, it's good he does fight and hard when it counts. The other characters are likable as well, the fights quite nice and interesting, even innovative enough.

Lastly, when I see a broken character like Felli, I can't help but hope somebody will heal her. Kind of like Rei in Eva.

Been watching for a while now. I like the show also for the reasons stated by Kraco. Go Felli!

Felli is the only reason needed to watch this show. Everything else is nice, but Felli is just so..........you know.

While it's hard to say just what exactly is going on in this series, although a few things have been revealed, it's nevertheless rather interesting mix of Felli, badass fights, Felli, character development, Felli, monsters, Felli, competition, Felli, various battle tactics, Felli, and many other positive aspects such as Felli.

This is definitely one of the best shows airing right now, even with the Engrish crap in between scenes. Reason?

Unfortunately, it seems Nina has gained a huge lead over the other Fon Fon harem members. I wonder how Lee Rin's addition will affect the mix? I'm expecting a lot of insurance calls from all the property damage Felli will be causing because of Lee Rin and Fon Fon being too familiar, but how will Nina take it considering she knows and seems to like Lee Rin?

I'm not so sure of Nina's lead. One thing making the situation so complicated is the fact Layfon himself doesn't really seem to be interested in romances. I suppose he considers them all his friends, but even his concept of a friend is someone whose safety he must protect at any cost, and that's it, more or less. I guess such a twisted view origates from his past as an orphan, who ended up protecting the other orphans at the cost of his own position as a heaven's blade receiver. Somehow I doubt he loved even Leerin back then when everything was still well.

In the end Layfon might be far more damaged goods than Felli. Although I'm kind of pleased he hasn't changed that much. Makes things more interesting, even if at the same time I wish he would get together with Felli.

I don't know, the one girl he seems really attached to is Leerin. He certainly missed her in the earlier episodes. The question is whether or not he sees her as a love interest, or merely in a brother-sister way. Nina certainly had that dramatic re-entry scene, and while Layfon was going crazy killing filth monsters while she and Zuellni were away, he seems to have a greater awareness of Felli's affections. This might be because she is a little more forward than Nina has been. Nina seems to have only realized her feelings recently.

To be honest, aside from the uncertainty with Leerin, I think Mei-Shen in actually in the lead. Layfon is now very aware of her, though she has not been in the picture the last few episodes because she can't take care of herself like the other girls (Leerin thanks to Alsheyra's murderous support for her well-being). I fully support a Felli-win, but I don't think the anime will continue long enough for us to see a conclusion.

Stranger still is the world's connection with the Engrish Land. Nina, Leerin, and Felli have all seen Saya in a vision, and Alsheyra mentioned her name aloud.

/desperately hoping for another season (there are 12 volumes of the novels currently out).

But it was Nina that caused the greatest emotional reaction from Fon Fon. Granted, it was partly because of guilt, and I don't doubt that if Felli or Leerin disappeared in the same manner, Fon Fon would worry quite a bit. But so far, Nina has been made out to be the main love interest, with the scene when Fon Fon fainted on Nina's breasts near the beginning, the classic love-hate-love transition, the mid-air hug, and most of all Felli's jealousy at how Fon Fon looks at Nina at present. They now seem to share a bond that he does not have with Felli. I'm not sure about Leerin though, since we have barely seen her interact with Fon Fon.

I feel like someone should mourn the fact that with all the different things going on in this series like overpowered monsters, a random English TV show that seems to have something to do with the plot, and evil fairies possessing people, what seems to get the most attention are the dynamics of the undesired harem that has built itself up around Layfon.

Anyway, I have to take Layfon's side in all this romantic posturing. This most recent episode really underlined why I feel like some of these girls need to be pushed out an airlock for a few minutes. As much as I love Felli as a character I can't ignore the irritation I felt when she just had to interrupt Layfon in the middle of what should have been obvious was a serious battle, and then after the fact she didn't seem to show much remorse that her distraction ended up getting him a good slashing. Leerin gets a little leeway for her behavior because she didn't know why Layfon was fighting only that he was fighting but still, if you're going to jump to conclusions and beat on people who just got injured you aren't getting a gold star and a pat on the back from me. Nina seemed to behave in a fairly neutral manner in this case which I had to respect. Still, I miss Mei-shen who might have actually been supportive of Layfon instead of berating him or cold shouldering him to protect her own feelings.

Meanwhile back at the actual 'plot' (I hope) Haia was acting like a bratty kid and got the typical "You had friends all along so you didn't really need to prove yourself" ending so whatever I can see how there's not much to talk about there. But wtf is Zuellini supposed to do against Grendan? Was it said that cities in proximity automatically have to fight or can they just meet and say hi and go their separate ways? Even if they don't have an inter-city match though we know Grendan is interested in Haikizoku and Nina is conveniently carrying one around so tension seems inevitable. Hopefully Layfon can avoid being physically and emotionally abused by his 'suitors' long enough to save yet another of them from the next inevitable kidnapping.

I also noticed the girl with the wizard hat and fishnets from the OP seems to be among what I assume were the Heaven's-Blade receivers so I'm excited about that, wizard hats make everything better.

It seemed to me Leering knew what was going on, and berated Layfon for not having changed despite going out looking for a change. It'd be obvious to her, who has know Layfon for so long, that the dude is again trying to save everybody by himself. Besides, Leerin is also from Grendan and knows such a minor wound will not much slow down a (ex-) Heaven's blade receiver.

Somehow I think the other cities don't really want to ever fight Grendan. Made evident by how the one Zuellni was supposed to fight suddenly retreated. It's thus very strange why the little fairy of Zuellni especially steers the city towards Grendan. She shouldn't anymore be affected by the rampant spirit either.

In any case I doubt there's anything Zuellni could ever do against Grendan, with or without Layfon. Layfon is just one man, after all, and how many Heaven's blade receivers does Grendan have, and in addition to those the Queen as well. Maybe there will be no fighting.
