    Game: Fate Unlimited Codes

At the 2008 AOU show in Japan, Capcom in conjunction with Cavia and Eighting debuted a fighting game based on the franchise called Fate/Unlimited Codes. The game is set to be released in the arcades and have an exclusive PlayStation 2 release on December 18, 2008. A pre-order version is also available which includes a limited edition Saber Lily figure.

Has anyone been keeping track on this game?

I might get it even if it's in Japanese since i've been loving the novel so much.

Check the Fate/Stay Night Game thread. I mentioned it last week (including a photo of the figurine) and someone else mentioned it long before when the game was annouced for Arcade.

I'm mulling over importing it, as I did the same for Melty Blood: Act Candenza, and the videos look like it plays the same fast-paced 2D way. I'm not convinced the game is balanced or not though. Melty Blood certainly has its own share of issues.

I still have a bitch of a time beating Ciel with Vermillion Akiha in their story match (round 5?). The computer makes her nearly impossible to catch. Akiha is mid-close range, Ciel is close-long. It's hard to stay in the mid-range when Ciel keeps running away.

Anyway, the SP version is already on its way. In the end I don't care if it is balanced, I just want to feel really evil using Sakura to beat on everyone else. Top-loader PS2 Slim never lets me down

Well been playing it for a little less than an hour or so probably won't play this that much since I got Persona 4 and Dissidia to play at the moment. Since I've only tried Archer out I can't really say much about it, but it's fun enough combos might be a bit hard to pull of then again can't expect much considering the short time I've spent with it. Berserker is still a pain in the ass to fight against it seems but other than that and I have no clue how to do stuff other than the usual stuff. Good thing the menu is in English not that it's a big deal if it's in Japanese but it certainly makes it a lot easier to navigate, even the the sub menu under option is in English. Last thing is that the op to the game was quite disappointing

If it is anything like Melty Blood, it is the standard Dragon Punch, quarter-circle forward, and quarter circle back that is common to most fighters.

Melty Blood was just a mix of those where the attack varied depending on which strength of attack you pushed, A B or C.

Commands like Archer's phrases to bring out UBW are probably more unique and complicated, but Melty Blood's were fairly simple, most characters had the same input for all the super attacks.

Yeah that's what I meant by the usual stuff, just unsure about all of them and no idea how to use the UBW I've managed to get him to say the first two lines "I am the bone of my sword" and "Steel is my body and fire is my blood". Though it was a lot easier to pull of a combo or chain together attacks in Melty Blood from what I remember. And I've got no idea what the fourth button does either unless it's similar to the fourth one in Melty Blood.

I finally found my copy and dug out my flip-top PS2.

I take it all back, I have no clue what is going on in about 50% of the fights. It's going to take a while to figure it all out. Especially what the hell the Grail does as it fills.

    - Tried Sakura first (of course ), not bad, a lot like Eddie/Zato from Guilty Gear or Akiha (the regular slower one), but made poor choice in opponent. Archer was overpowering.
    - Tried Caster next. Against Saber. Again, poor choice when figuring out how to play. She plays a lot like Aozaki Aoko from Melty Blood. All range and traps. Saber annihilated me.
    - So I swapped the last battle. My first win! Caster kicked my ass a lot though in the first round.
    - The last fight I tried before deciding I need to learn more about this was with Luviagelita against Rider. Met with a lot of success here. I got juggled really bad in the second round, but I basically beat her handily.

And since I bought the SP box, here's a few pictures of it and the Lily Saber figurine.

    Box:

    Lily Saber:

http://img168.imageshack.us/img168/3452/img0141hs7.jpg (flash off for a more natural view of the colors)

It has lots of flexibile joints and parts (most the the skirt can be moved too), 5 total sets of hands, two total sets of bangs, and two faces. I didn't want to take too much more out because I wasn't sure I could get it back into the box. Comes with Caliburn, the stand, and I think a plastic bag to keep all the parts in.

Hope exists for our friends over the pond.

Capcom has submitted the game to Germany's USK ratings board for release on the PSP. The article wasn't as clear to whether the game was coming to North America as well.

Got it a few days back, and it's been a pretty fun ride

As expected i suck at combos but i still manage to win most fights even in hard mode by memorizing some key combos that work for most of the characters

Already have almost everything unlocked but i'm now wondering if the info on Lancer's master and this Toshaka lookalike will prove hazardous when i finally get my hands on ataraxia. Just in case, when playing their arcade mode i didn't read any of the lines

That's why you should have gotten the import version. It's hard to get spoiled by a game where you're not entirely sure how anything is unlocked in the first place.

Winning is all about using Leysritt anyway. Luvi isn't bad if you're really into grabs and holds (Zangriefers), but Leysritt is unstoppable.

I noticed that too... i dont even have to think i just spam whatever i want to and i'm good to go

Is that even canon...? She just looked like a maid on the game and here's she's dancing with that bigass axe thingy like it's a twig

Still Toshaka's gem spam and and saber's light, middle, heavy, ->-> light attack combo are pretty unbalanced too

I still prefer to play with archer for the UBW and the kickass bgm alone haha

    Hahahahaha ... no.

I probably wouldn't be playing this if it wasn't for my fanboyism anyway and the only fighters i enjoy are stuff like DBZ Budokai and Bleach Heat of the Soul that are more visual fests than anything else and with no overcomplicated combos

You might like Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm then. There's only 1 attack button. How complicated can it get?

New Fate/stay Night Game Coming to PSP

Type-Moon’s hugely successful Fate/stay night franchise is getting yet another video game incarnation, though this time with a fresh genre: Fate/EXTRA will be an RPG for the PSP platform.

The game will depart from general Fate/JRPG convention and allow the player to select the protagonist’s gender; otherwise series mainstays such as Saber and Rin will be making their inevitable appearances.

Gameplay itself is apparently a dungeon crawling battle game with school segments, a formula which will doubtless be familiar from certain other titles.

The game is said to be 60% complete, so a release is likely not so very far off…
