Really? I was tuned out for the entire thing.

They've finally used the "radiator trick" game-players talked about before, so that's a good point at least. Maximilian is turning out to be another Prince who wants to keep his place. It doesn't help that his intro and VA shouts "Lelouch", yet the plot just doesn't deliver.

Ramal and Alicia's death were nothing compared to Isara's. Ramal because I didn't care much about him (besides the fact he's nice to Isara), and Alicia because she can't possibly be dead. Those facts aside, I didn't think it was well done to cause any emotions anyway.

That was pretty lackluster.

Aside from that, the whole premise of the episode seems uncanny since the enemy just brought out an ultra-weapon that wiped the whole squad out. I really think Maximillian should have resorted to that after Gregor's defeat.

Since this already happened... I guess I can spell the differences with the game.

All the squad members of Faldio, sans Ramal, are in fact Squad 7 members in the game. And Faldio shot Alicia with a Sniper Rifle in the middle of battle, in front of Welkin.

I liked the way they portrayed the shock of Squad 7 upon seeing Alicia do her Valkyria powerup. The game totally lacked that. Yet the game's scene was more powerful due to the music and presentation.

I am not talking about the game. I am talking about the anime. Any comments I make about the anime should not affect my, or anyone's opinion of the game, especially because I have not played it yet.

The scene you blatantly compared to dragon ball or bleach was faithfully animated from the game, it wasn't an anime-only scene (like most of Faldio's scenes), thus... your critic hits the game directly.

That depends on how the entire thing was introduced in the game. If it was this random, then I would probably dislike that development in the game as well. Still, I cannot criticize the game since I have not played it.

Was the rest of the anime the same as the game? Are all of the characters the same or acted the same as in the game? You should take all these factors into account when making a comparison, not just one faithfully animated scene.

The game gave small hints, like the blue stone, but no blatant references like the anime did (Faldio saying she was a Valkyria several episodes ago). In fact, Alicia lost control of her power for the first time in the same manner. Being shot. Did you watch the youtube clip?

Ramal did not exist in the game. Faldio's role wasn't so big. Selvaria and Jagger didn't knew Alicia. Most of Squad 1 was part of Squad 7.

The anime and the game are very different.

My comment was directed towards the scene being criticized. Its one of the few loyal scenes.

So it was even more random? Then the Dragon Ball/Bleach comment was perfectly appropriate. Whether it is a criticism or not depends on whether you like those two shows.

No I did not watch the youtube clip. Not everyone wants to spoil themselves, even if it is a close adaptation.

If possible, please edit your post to remove the fantastic array of spoilers from the game, for the sake of people like me who want to enjoy playing it.

Now, I won't negatively comment on Faldio's doing, since Alicia was the key to their success. Still, I don't like the idea of having someone, or a friend, shoot you in the back (and through a vital point?) just to unlock some hidden power. Next episode name fits perfectly, alright.

Faldio is a psycho. If nearly killing her is necessary, he should have explained everything as fast as he could, then got her consent. Knowing Alicia (like Faldio should by now), she would most likely agree to take the risk, especially for Welkin and her squad.

Maybe. But Faldio didn't want to leave anything to chance (contradictory as this statement may be). He was desperate for a way to save everybody after losing his entire squad, and if whether or not Alicia was a Valkyrur was a gamble, he wanted it to be the only gamble.

I can't agree with what he did, but I can't answer you neither if you asked for a better alternative.

I agree with Zell's comments regarding the clip (how the music was good). As for DBZ comparisons, most of the anime was like that anyway due to the lack of strategy involved.

Eldeweisse > non-Valkyrurs, Alicia > Selvaria > everything else etc.

(A comparison follows between episode and youtube clip that doesn't ruin anything). The clip above didn't have the young-Alicia flashback, so it looks like the anime is going for a less-random, more-foreshadowing approach, for better or worse.

Note that I haven't played the game neither, but you've got to have rocks for brains to not guess, if not figure out what that flashback meant.

Hint: (2 orphans, both Valkyrurs. Maybe they were neighbours.)

PS: Maximilian should give up his powers too. He's a joke. Being voiced by Lelouch's VA doesn't make it any less so.

Alicia might have an edge over Selvaria, but as they've shown, one Valkyrur isn't everything. At first, his army was doing fine until they shot his tank's engine. After that, Selvaria came and started annihilating the enemy and taking most, if not all the fire. And now, his tank's fixed.

Well, it's not fixed anymore, so at the very end he really did have no options.

How is it hypocritical? Trying to do the best the situation offers is normal. I am not condoning the shooting of Alicia. I just wanted to point out that Faldio should have done that instead of shooting her from behind. The problem is, he didn't even try to think of an alternative, much less try to actually do it. Then he says that he had no choice? Psycho.

Like I said, that was not meant to be taken literally, but to express how Faldio did not even consider other options. I'm sure I explained it in my last post though.
