    Manga: The Breaker

This is a manhwa that I started reading recently. At first it seemed like a GTO type of series for me, which is what primarily attracted me to it... but as it goes on you notice that they are vastly different. Although there's the whole badass teacher in a bad classroom dynamic going on, this is more of a conspiracy, martial arts, spies, kills for hire type of series. Looks like superpowers may be involved, but nothing concrete has been explained yet.

I really like the art, and the fights so far have been well drawn. There's also a bit of comedy here and there which might be of interest to some.

The main character is lame at the moment, it's the usual loser in a quest to get stronger... but the teacher character so far more than makes up for it. Chicks are well drawn too for people that enjoy that.

In all I've been liking it, it's being released by KMTS, and so far they have been releasing fairly frequently. Hopefully they'll keep it up. In all I think this is good enough for some of you to give it a try.

A new HR teacher, Chun-woo is not your ordinary teacher with his wily ambitions. After unexpectedly witnessing his great power, Shin-woo begs him to teach him so he can become stronger. Chun-woo claims he can only teach Shin-woo after he throws his body into a deep river to prove his will. However, Shin-woo didn't know his master was much stronger than he could possibly imagine. He was a killer with mastery of nine martial arts who was hiding himself after a big mission!

You can download it from #lurk or from #k-manga @ irc.irchighway.net

Don't have some direct downloads with me at the moment, but if needed I can upload them somewhere... just ask. Eleven chapters are out at the moment, and they're about 30 pages long each.

    Chapters 13-16 came out.

Luckily, one of the bigger cliffhangers was in chapter 15 instead of 16.

This series is pretty good. Combat is great so far, art is good, and even though it seems like Shin-woo is more of a side character, this batch is starting to flesh his position in the story a lot more. It reminds me of some of the better parts of Tenjou Tenge, before that got really weird. There's a little bit of GTO only a little, it comes off a lot more like Veritas.

I just read this and I am seriously in love with this manga. I like both the master and the student as characters, but what I really love is the art. The women in this manga are so hot, especially with the long hair. It reminds me of Sando from Angyo Onshi.

I actually dislike long hair in anime (but I love it in reality), since it is usually done with really Shoujo-like art styles or the hair is simply too big and puffy. Korean artists, though, really manage to make it look absolutely sexy.

I am quite irritated how practically each chapter ends in a cliffhanger. Even the latest chapter cuts off just at the part that I was waiting for since I read chapter one.

I am actually conflicted as to what I want to happen in the next chapter. While I want to see that bully's head bashed in, I don't want some cheap power up to suddenly make the kid strong. It would be best if he got back at them when he is in actual control of his body and skill.

I felt really frustrated (in a good way, since that is probably what the author intended) when Gumunryong was fighting that iron hand guy. Knowing that he could have destroyed that arrogant bastard in less than a minute if he was at full power yet seeing him beat up really pissed me off. Still, the end of the fight was really good, with a nice feint and spin to end the match.

I liked the spin they put on the shameless powerup though. Shin-woo did get an uber powerup, but his body can't handle it at all. He's very likely to kill himself each time he uses it, as the sexy "nurse" told him.

He can't even clench a fist without profuse bleeding. He'll likely shatter his arm here (killing the other guy in the process).

I think his fist got dodged and he got hit instead, but your scenario is something I can be satisfied with as well. I hope we get to see Gumunryong in the next chapter. Actually, I am simply hoping that they release the next chapter soon.

Here I came to bump this thread with the new releases, and got the surprise of a discussion happening.

Ryllharu, you're correct about the Veritas resemblance... it surely has some of it, especially with the conspiracy behind all the martial arts, somewhat like Tenjou Tenge too.

I myself think that he did kick the bully's ass, but just because of he's powered by ki. It doesn't mean that he's good at fighting, and if it wasn't because of the surprise factor he would've probably gotten his ass kicked. So I don't see it as much as a powerup as it would be implied by beating the bully. There's is a powerup indeed, but the result of this (assuming he smashes the bully's face in) will be mainly because of the surprise factor. Otherwise, the kid would've gotten beaten up in my opinion even with the power up. We'll see.

Up to chater 19 is now out, you can get them from #k-manga @ rc.irchighway.net

    Will read them tonight.

Well, if you don't know by now KMTS has been disbanded... a recently formed group called A-Team has most of their staff members and are continuing their projects.

You can get up to chapter 22 from them here:

Any of you still reading this? I'm still enjoying it quite a bit, it's becoming a bit more violent. The latest baddie is cool.

    The Breaker Onemanga

Well it's up to chapter 29 now. And I have to say now it is really getting interesting. He is properly learning how to control his ki and use it in combat. But I fear that he will kill those guys by accident.

Why fear it? They deserve to get killed, or maybe disabled for life.

I hope the kid properly brutalizes them like he did the pillar, using the new technique that he seemingly mastered through sheer talent.

Yeah I want them to get their asses kicked so hard their grandchildren will feel it too but I think the kid will be to traumatized by it.

He looked quite badass in those last few pages. And thank god he's finally learning some techniques.

Does this mean that the kid possesses talent for learning martial arts but was too lazy or docile so he never had the chance to develop it?

Remember, he had some sort of heart condition earlier so he couldn't overexert himself without risking death (which was how he almost died earlier in the series and got saved by the Ki egg shit).

He was also a wimp though.

Oh yeah, forgot about that. Makes much more sense now, since talent is not directly related to health. It just so happens that poor health prevents it from manifesting.

    The Breaker Chap 30

Well he's still a bit of a wimp but when he really did want to hit the guy he got stopped. Wonder if he'll say that he does know Goomoonryong ( I can never get used to those names.... )

31 is out now... cool chapter. Onemanga doesn't have it yet, so get it off IRC.

Can you possibly upload it in mediafire or something so I can get it? I don't have IRC here at my office.

The kid is seriously retarded. Someone mentions a word as random as Goomoonryong and you immediately say I don't know that person? Isn't it common sense (even a reflex) to say "What are you talking about?" when asked a question that you shouldn't answer? He must not read manga or watch TV. It happens all the time in those mediums, even if it ridiculous in real life.

Is his master going to rescue him? I doubt this will end with just a friendly chat.

    32-35 are out.

A healthy dose of sweet, loli tsundere goodness. Top-heavy ratio too, just the way I prefer.

...and badass fighting too (even if it was utterly one-sided). He may be an idiot, but he's finally come past some of his weaknesses.
