    Quote of the day

Just put here anything interesting you heard/read that you thought was funny or interesting.

"You guys really pissed me off from last week's quiz, I dont understand what you dont understand"

    -my fluid mechanics professor

context:he said this to my whole class, because the average on the last quiz was like in 50s out of 100.
"Be sure to take this piece of $#!t(meant sheet)" - My dynamics professor(heavy japanese accent)

"Women are like squared numbers; if they're under thirteen just do 'em in your head!"

Too many quotes on Don McMillan's commentary on PowerPoints, so here you go:

My favourite from Einstein would have to be:

I just realized another one from like a couple of weeks ago:

A Teacher's assistant of mine, was showing a presentation using Pro-E(3-D engineering software):

"You see how smoothly that shaft goes into that hole?"(as he says this he moves the shaft back and forth in the model's hole)

*long quiet pause in the room*

*TA realizes what he just said and did*

    *class bursts out laughing*

*Professor shakes his head*(probably thinking: "omg these idiots...")

even funnier quote just moments after this:

    TA:"hehe...im soo fired"
"Be sure to take this piece of $#!t(meant sheet)" - My dynamics professor(heavy japanese accent)

I'm in a distress right now. Some guy keeps saying "Ignorance is a blessing" while I say "Ignorance is Bliss." What should I tell him? Should I just ignore him?

The saying is "Ignorance is bliss." Look it up for him to prove it or just tell your friend he's wrong. He probably won't stop saying it in either case.

<@Terra> he told me this, "man actually meeting terra is so fucking big", and he started crying. Then he bought me hot dogs

I see. Thanks for the tip! And the guy was just some random guy, not someone I know.

are you distressing about it? then that guy has won.
he's proving that the fact that you know the true words of the proverb is hindering you, while he, who is ignorant of the correct way of saying the sentence, is in a state of bliss.

that really is a metaphysical argument.

sig made by Itachi-y2k5, thanks, dude!
Currently Watching: probably a show directed at 9 years old girls, lets be honest.

You know the important distinction between Batman and me? Batman is fictional. In real life, there isn't always an alternative.

Eh, it kind of bothers me when people try to correct my quote "Ignorance is Bliss" to "Ignorance is a Blessing." Anywho, I already corrected him and he has sent his apologies, so we're fine now.

"Throughout human history, as our species has faced the frightening,
terrorizing fact that we do not know who we are, or where we are going in
this ocean of chaos, it has been the authorities, the political, the
religious, the educational authorities who attempted to comfort us by
giving us order, rules, regulations, informing, forming in our minds their
view of reality. To think for yourself you must question authority and
    learn how to put yourself in a state of vulnerable, open-mindedness;
chaotic, confused, vulnerability to inform yourself." -- Timothy Leary

"They call it 'The American Dream' because you have to be asleep to believe it" - George Carlin

This quote is very true about the aspects of life itself.

The seven deadly sins. Food, clothing, firing, rent, taxes, respectability and children. Nothing can lift those seven millstones from man's neck but money; and the spirit cannot soar until the millstones are lifted. - George Bernard Shaw (1856-1950)

    I've always like this quote:

"You cannot hope to build a better world without improving the individuals. To that end each of us must work for his own improvement, and at the same time share a general responsibility for all humanity, our particular duty being to aid those to whom we think we can be most useful." -Marie Curie

Though I'm not sure where I read it.

For God will not permit that we shall know what is to come... those who by some sorcery or by some dream might come to pierce the veil that lies so darkly over all that is before them may serve by just that vision to cause that God should wrench the world from its heading and set it upon another course altogether and then where stands the sorcerer? Where the dreamer and his dream?

I think she married into the Curie name. Her husband Mr. Curie was also a physicist.
